Contrary to what my screen names says I am a Program Manager for the US Navy. I was after a device that was light enough to carry between meetings for notes and such. But, I also needed to carry and keyword such a large and growing reference library of PDF files. The IPad does all this and more, as my library of apps grows, I am sure I will discover new uses daily.

I stood in line on day one to get my 64 gb 3G, and I have never looked back. It is truly a revolutionary device that will continue to evolve.

What sold me?

Walking into an Apple Store and testing one out. I walked in to the store somewhat intrigued, but not at all sold on the idea. (Don't own an iPhone and the only iPod I have is of the generation pre- iPod touch.) But I figured there was a lot of hype, I was at the mall running errands anyway, so why not give one a spin for a few minutes and see what it can do.

Ten minutes later, I was 100% sold. I had to have one.

So my advice t you (if you are on the fence) is, if you have an Apple Store anywhere near you, go in and play with one a while.

This is a very difficult question to answer. I don't quite know how I was sold on the iPad. I do remember being very excited for the keynote in January, and when all was said an done, I was extremely disappointed. I was hoping for os 4 news or iPhone news along with the iPad announcement. Needless to say, I felt I wouldn't need the iPad.

And I was right, I still don't need the iPad. But being the apple fanboy that I am, I wanted the iPad. Though it took me a few weeks to come around to wanting one. I remember in late February I was laying in bed at night on my MacBook and I just thought to myself "hey...I want an iPad". And ever since thatnlate February day, I knew I'd get one. So I guess my lust for any new apple product is what really sold me. I don't need an iPad, I use it constantly, but I do not need it. I also feel bad that I asked my mom to pay for it, which she did, and after 880 dollars, I never needed it. But, that's probably another major selling point- it's of no expense to me whatsoever, so i wanted it more.

And as for it being what I wanted- yes. It's simply as I expected. No greater, no worse.

The ability to surf the internet, read, play games, watch movies, and check emails all pretty quickly on the go anywhere in a very light weight, 'carry it like a folder' smart device. Glove-like fit in the Apple Case and the gorgeous resolution on the 9.7" LED screen. :D

As most people mentioned it's a large iPod touch.

The iPhone and the touch are wonderful devices. The Ipad is simply a larger version.

They stretched it perfectly. :D

It's a tech marvel and very desirable.

Is it useful?

Who cares :D

It will become the other way around if it hasn't already - the iPod Touch and iPhone are just the smaller more restrictive screen-real estate versions of the iPad (with/without phone capability).

Someone's already mentioned this and I agree, the iPod Touch should be renamed the iPad Mini.

And I'll wager an eventual larger 15-17" version when it comes should be the iPad Pro.
