^^^regarding iPhone/iPod...because my iPod holds 30gigs of my music (iphone is only 16gb).

I can't imagine lugging around my laptop on a vacation either unless I'm staying at a relative's house of extended period of time.

since i just returned from a vacation i can tell you exactly what i took with me:

-phone
-ipod w/ headphones (duh)
-nikon d40
-nikon fm

no internet and/or notebook for me as i fear that work might call and say: 'hey, could you help us out with this and that!?'

For both city trips and hiking trips I take the following.

*camera Canon 30D ( easily works for 2 weeks on 1 battery)
*phone (plain old SE) (if not on, can easily work 2 weeks)
*garmin gpsmap 60cx (eats batteries)
*led flashlight ( 2 weeks as well)

nothing more. It don't want to be busy looking for places to charge batteries during my holiday.

I might be the savior of this thread, but it seems interesting. I'm going on a trip tomorrow to the Smoky Mountains and I'm pretty much my family's "tech guru". (Much to my joy ) So here we go:

  • MacBook Pro 15"
  • Nokia phone
  • iPod Nano (3rd Gen 4gb)
  • Panasonic camcorder
  • Sony point & shoot
  • Bose around-ear headphones
  • Firewire cable
  • iPod to USB cable
  • Phone charger
  • Laptop charger
  • 2 batteries for the camcorder
  • Charger for the camcorder
  • Charger for the point & shoot
  • Point & shoot to usb cable
  • Extra tapes for the camcorder

That's all that I can think of off the top of my head. I probably have more to do that I'll realize at 7 am tomorrow when we're trying to get out the door. We're going to go out and buy an adapter that plugs into the car's "cigarette lighter" and let's you plug in other things. The only thing I'm not bringing is the kitchen sink ;).

And then I wouldn't leave without this...

Because the GPS on the iPhone is still useless and the bluetooth connection makes it a great handsfree kit where ever you are.

Going on vacation tomorrow for almost ten days

iPhone x2 (me and hubby)
MacBook x2 (me and hubby)
iPod Touch (Daughters)
iPod (son)
Nikon S60

Camera, swimmers, a good book, and my wife.

Your wife is a tech item? It kinda reminded me of this:

Anyway, on my NYC trip I took:
-MacBook
-iPhone
-Sony a300

I was going to take my PSP, but when I left in the morning, it was on charge and I forgot to grab it. Because I can't afford Business Class, I think I may get a Netbook once there are more nVidia ion based Netbooks out as it'll be smaller and more comfortable in flight.

Normally i'll take:

Macbook + usb snes pad
Nikon d40 + 18-200mm & backup lens
Fuji Finepix (as backup)
iPhone 3g
iPod Classic
DS
Last but not least. A Swiss Champ. You just never know;)
