I doubt a Mini would have any M series processor. It would probably run too hot for minimal benefit. If the Mini 7 is not released until late 2024, I think it will come with an A17, or maybe even an A18 by then. I can’t see a 3 year wait for a new Mini that only goes from an A15 to an A16. Besides, a 3 nanometer processor would have efficiency benefits that would help with the smaller battery in an iPad Mini.

For many of the smaller iPads uses.. this camera come in especially useful... and Ive actually used the flashlight a few times too. Its a real bonus having this.
Your iPhone does all of that, and is better suited to being a camera. My iPad mini 2 was the best form factor they ever made, and only needs a magnetic one sided screen cover, as opposed to the full case covers they have now (to make the back of the iPad flat).

Still love the portability of my mini 4.
Yes, the battery life is a tradeoff, but at least it fits in my palm when using in portrait.
This new one shall serve as a replacement for my old and dead mini 4.

If those rumors have any substance I'll pass next upgrade.

Let me know Apple when a more substantial upgrade comes, as with M-chip or a Mini Pro.
Otherwise I put my money on something more rewarding for me.

I notice the jelly scrolling - when I look for it. But generally, when I want to scroll and read text at the same time -which is rare enough - I scroll so slowly that I don’t notice it.

I agree that it shouldn’t be like this on a device of this price, but at the same time I don’t think it makes it unusable as some people seem to think.

Battery life is excellent on mine. Used primarily as an ebook reader, I generally exceed 10 hours of use before needing to charge. That is, however, with backlight very low and I read white on black.

So basically after 3 years almost nothing is going to be updated, GPS module that is mandatory to use maps on the go will still be locked behind 200 € price gap and for 1000+ € you get tablet with intentionally crippled display when Apple has more advanced technologies in other products? Hey Apple no wonder iPad sales are down, please dont treat your customers as idiots, this is serious nonsens.

so.. maybe a year away still?!! all speculation then at this point. must be a slow news day apart from listing Black Friday sales.

I have the current mini. The scaling of the OS on the screen … isn’t right. Don’t really notice the jelly scrolling issue too much but it annoys me that Apple sees 120hz screens as a pro feature which is common on lower end android products.
I’d probably consider a slightly larger iPad next time though. It’s feels constrained using it sometimes.

I bought a 256GB on launch , received it and wasn’t overly impressed for what I paid and what I got , and the jelly was the icing on the cake to return it.

If it still has a crappy 60hz screen I will most likely pass.

I will wait to see if lenovo makes a 2024 Legion Y700, if not il just buy the 2023 on discount!

I am still using a mini 5. So far it is doing well. One of my top features on a new mini would be getting Face ID.

Glad I didn't wait for upgrades - that looks like an underwhelming update to me, and for my needs. It's plenty powerful (maybe some more ram, but not a major issue), the jelly doesn't bother me.

Really, the main improvements I'd like to see are in the software side, primarily around file access (e.g. I'd like to be able to work with Insta360 files without having to import them wirelessly from the camera)

I may well be skipping the 7 and waiting for the 8.
