Anyway, Apple removed support for BCM94321MC from the Sierra driver…

If i remember correctly, BCM94321MC is one of the most common Broadcom Wi-Fi on 2008/early 2009 Macs, checked some of my old Macs around and I have the exactly same board on my MacBook5,2/early 2009 and on iMac8,1/early 2008. I think it's the same chipset on mini3,1 too, albeit with another form factor, have to confirm that later.

Latter Macs have BCM94322MC, this one has AirDrop.
Where in About This Mac > System Report can you see whether I have the BCM94321MC vs. BCM94322MC?

If I have AirDrop working, then I must have BCM94322MC?

SystemReport/Network/Wi-Fi/CardType

AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x88) = BCM94321MC = no AirDrop = not supported on Sierra
AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x8E) = BCM94322MC = AirDrop = Sierra supported

AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x88) = BCM94321MC = no AirDrop

Since I do have AirDrop, then I have BCM94322MC, which means I can flash by 4,1 to 5,1 and install macOS Sierra with WiFi working, correct? Just making sure. :)

You had BCM94321MC in your 4,1 but I thought all 2009 Mac Pro supported AirDrop??

If you have AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x8E), it's ok to use Sierra. Wi-Fi is not a standard item on 2009, only on 2010 models and these have AirDrop.

AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x8E) = BCM94322MC = AirDrop = Sierra supported

One more thing, Sierra now natively supports VLI VL805 USB3 chipset. Lose some, win some ;)

Hi, friend, can you confirm VL805 is still fully working (most importantly supports sleep) in current version of Sierra. Since your test was during beta period and google gives nothing about VL805 support except your mention from the summer of 2016. Thank you.

P.S. Going through AppleUSBXHCIPCI.kext's Info.plist and not finding other vendor IDs except Intel and Fresco Logic means support present in beta was nixed?

Did not test it recently, I'm using a Fresco Logic on my main MP. I'll test it on the weekend and report back.
