I used the iPhone for over three years but now I'm hooked on my nexus 4 and Google services. Stock android is so nice and I would say is just as smooth as my iPhone 5. Once I got used to how android works and really explored all the good apps it was a no brainer to switch. Of course, I still have my iPhone 5 just to see what Apple does software wise this year. I don't expect much of anything but just in case they do drastically just iOS I will have a device to test it.

I agree with all the above. I think that this is the best of both worlds, I cant afford two phones but I do have an iPad mini which gives me the same (more or less) experience. :)

likewise. That is the good thing about IOS being on a tablet. I can still try out the latest and greatest without having to purchase an iphone. I literally only use my ipad to control my lights and to manage my airports.

I'm extremely glad my job provides a phone :D

I've been waiting for the opportunity to try out an Android, but wouldn't leave my iPhone to do so - now I get the best of both worlds.....

I'll likely get a GS4 this year with my September upgrade, and use my 2014 upgrade (from my LTE iPad mini's line) for the 2014 iPhone.

I have a sonos music (streamer) system, I find that the iPad mini is the most elegant controller I have seen. :D I do like picking up the iPad M to quickly browse, I think that as far a phones go that iOS and Android are on a par, both systems have features that would be well received by either camp. This is just my opinion, but no one does tablets better than Apple, I must qualify that by admitting that I have never owned a tablet by any other manufacturer and have only played with them for brief moments in shops. :)

I wish my job did, well it does in a way, I'm a soldier but the type of portable comms I get are extremely different to say the least. :D

I must admit that I think that Apple will blow everyone away with their 2014 phone, I too have an upgrade around that time. :D:D

The android tablets will work just like the phones do. Didn't you sell your iP5 for your Android phones?:D
Only thing wrong with the Nexus 7 is no back camera but for $199 cant complain too much.

Yes you may be right, thats why I mentioned that I have little (none) experience with any Android tablet. I was gifted my iPad mini and love it to death so am quite comfortable if my view is seen as biased, it probably is. The Nexus 7 for the price is superb (again on my limited experience) and if I was not given the iPad mini as a Christmas present was planning on purchasing. :D

I did give up my iPhone in favour of my SGS3, after comparing them for nigh on a month, I preferred the SGS3 and now currently have a Nexus 4, both I consider brilliant. What I will say is that if either of them lagged, were buggy or clunky, an app store that had low and few apps I would still own a iPhone 5, that just wasn't the case, as members here will remember, I had all the phones for an extended period to give them due chance. :D

I am really happy with my 2 OS choice and how they interact with each other, and for that matter, with me. :)

No that's not the only problem.
$199 for 8GB is blah.
Apps aren't plentiful.

It's out on march 14th so what features should it have for you to switch from the iphone?

It would need to have an LCD or an OLED that actually looked decent.
It would need to have icloud,iMessage, and all of the other apple services to be offered with it.
It would need to designed good
Not made of plastic
Not have the Samsung marketing team say it is a better device because it has a bunch of superficial features, that arent really all that useful.

So anyone make the switch in the end? If so, how was it?

I got an S4 and it was horrible. One of the worse smart phone purchases I ever made.

I like my S5, but the S4 was a dreadful product. I posted about all my issues with it several times if you are really curious.

If you are considering one, don't. Try a G2, or HTC from that year instead.

I dunno, somewhere in West Texas
I remember posting in this thread last year. Preferred HTC phones at the time but I did end up owning an S4. Like technarchy alluded to, my experiences were the same. The S4 was a laggy, awful experience. So unlike my experiences with the Note 3 which IMO, is one of the best Android devices to date.

I've had an s4 for about 24 hours so far, and it's a mixed bag. Lovely features, and great size, but a couple of little gitches like the screen not timing out as it was supposed to.

What did you guys not like about yours?

Lag in almost everything like scrolling contacts or flipping through emails. Screen unresponsive at times which could get annoying quickly and just too many random crashes. Samsung packed far too many features into the S4 and not enough ram to keep everything silky smooth.

It definitely doesn't feel like the fastest phone around…. It was between this and the iphone 6 for me. If this one doesn't wow in a few days, I'll switch to the feature-poor-but-at-least-they-work iphone.

Yeah, it was great for me at first and then a month in was when I started experiencing all those issues. I believe I kept it for like three months total (rooted and rom'd it to death) and then I swapped it out for an iPhone 5.

I LOVE the notification light, and a great swiftkey keyboard, and even the alarm app. But i worry about glitches, battery drains, recurring problems, how everything is easier to see on my aging eyes, and whatnot. I'm not a techie and won't be fiddling with it much at all, either.

My plan was to give it a few days to impress me and then switch to the iphone 6 if it doesn't. I did try the LG G2, two of them in fact, and it was also a glitchy phone. So I'm a bit leery of Android atm.

If this phone would work exactly like it was supposed to for two years, I'd be very happy with it. But I have little patience for problems and troubeshooting.
