I do not think that the iPhone will be a failure either. If by some chance sales are not what Apple thought they should be, you can probably expect price cuts, which will cause a FLOOD of people to buy them. I have read plenty of articles on the iPhone with polls that were taken of people's interest in the phone. There is a HUGE amount of people who have said that they would buy an iPhone if it were only cheaper. All I know is that I will be in line the day they are released!! $600 is a small price to pay for that gorgeous device!

The simple truth of this all is that we won't know if the iPhone is a failure until Apple has already booked the revenue for it's first version. Why? There's enough buzz to carry the phone until it's demise - that's no question. The real question is if Apple will be able to continue making different SKUs, like it's iPods, in varieties, in different shapes, sizes, for different uses. Once Apple can milk this concept - this idea - of a Apple-made cell phone, it's golden.

Take a look at the PS3. For all intents and purposes, to most, it is a dead product. Yet it is heavily supported still and maintains the ability to remain in the market. It's even easier for Apple - they're not selling the iPhone at a loss.

If the iPhone fails, it will become a new rare item that people will contest over on eBay. Macs and iPods will keep selling, life will go on. Steve will go and create some new avenue - a new product - for increasing revenue.

What will steve do if the iPhone fails?

He will take out all the Phone features, add a 100 GB HD, and call it the next iPod. ;)

If the iPhone fails...I don't know what Steve would do, but I know what I'd do.

Buy tons of Apple stock after it drops!

The Motorola Rokr was a flop, but keep in mind it wasn't an Apple product, it was just a Motorola phone that worked with itunes. The Rokr was no where near as advanced as the iPhone. I think the iPhone will become what the iPod is for MP3 players.

I suspect people choose on looks for phones that come free and are on £30 and down plans.

I have a mobile phone that cost £30 and comes with a £0 plan (costs me £10 to top it up twice a year).

However, the iPhone just creates this "I Want It" feeling...:D

What will steve do if the iPhone fails?
He would start punching Hippies, the Woz would come rollin' down the street on his Segway and remind Steve that he is a hippy. Then Steve Jobs will Sit in the desert during Burning Man and collect his hippy thoughts.
