It will disappear, replaced by AR glasses which can project a 50" floating screen in front of you :)
If AR glasses catch on, I do think they will majorly disrupt mobile devices like the iPad. Maybe completely replace them. A lot of variables though, battery life being maybe the big one.

Otherwise, iPads will probably just be more of the same. Apple will likely continue to make the iPad primarily as fun as they can, and secondarily as functional as they can, as long as the functionality is a good “Apple” experience and doesn’t compromise the “ipadness”. I don’t think it will ever be as functional as a Mac because iPad has that “fun, light, accessible to all” requirement, while Macs can focus on functionality.
But iPad’s may be more ubiquitous than Macs and maybe even all PCs in 10 years.

I agree with AR replacing the iPad within 10 years…but we’ll still need tablets for some purposes. I mean, think of sketching apps - AR can’t make the air solid to write on. So instead, in 10 years the iPad will be a very light plastic rectangle with no electronics, the AR glasses will track its position and make you see a display on it, also tracking whatever pointer device you use for input (finger, stylus…) We have the technology to do that today, just not necessarily at a resolution good enough to replicate a modern tablet at arm’s length.
