Kill myself and sue Apple.
Good luck with that.In that order?
I keep wondering this: What was the big deal with the 12"? It weighed nearly as much as the Macbook! There is absolutely no point whatsoever in having something smaller when it weighs as much as a regular notebookAs I've also said before, I was pretty glad in the end that a used buy of one I was setting up fell through when I retroactively did my research. Did it have some sort of mythical property I'm not aware of?
Good luck with that.
The 12 incher was a pro machine with an actual graphics card in it, unlike the MacBook. Integrated graphics are fine with me, but I know that's not the case with everyone else. And besides, the brushed aluminum is sexay.![]()

Nothing.
Not interested in an ultra-portable format.
finally...someone who's like me!
Nothing Apple took to long, I already bought the macbook.
for how big of a niche? Apple's computers are already a pretty niche product, so I don't understand why they'd narrow it down even further to a group of people who say they want it, but might not even buy it. Obviously Apple is about potential sales, but it sounds like the ultraportable idea is limited to a select few who couldn't fulfill their needs with a macbook or a macbook pro.I'll be disappointed in Apple for letting yet another product line remain unfilled, one that could bring them potential sales (yes, I've read all the arguments about how a headless iMac would cut into sales of the Mac Pro). I think as Apple expands, they need to loosen up a bit and match the product line of their competitors now that they are embracing the direct competition with them (the fastest Vista notebook ad comes to mind here)
Look at Dell taking on the iMac with XPS. Why shouldn't Apple do the same? It might hurt sales of their existing products, but gain them sales they never would have gotten otherwise. Why not a subnotebook, a headless iMac, and a gaming machine (high-end graphics).
Dell buyers aren't very brand loyal, and Apple buyers generally are VERY brand loyal. So what incentive do Dell buyers have to come to Apple? Very little, especially if they're going to compete on price.
