Any thoughts of what Apple could bring to make us love their products again? To bring excitement back?
Huh? I'm thrilled with my new IPP.
I dunno about you, but my iPad Pro 11” 1TB/6GB is pretty darn exciting. I guess you are going in the direction of, ? “they don’t build cars like they used to” ?
I think modern iPads are very much exciting. All of them are! Especially the most recent additions to the lineup.
They last forever! iOS is always smooth, and reliable for the most part. iPad Pro 2nd gens are being snatched up brand new for $299.99 at Walmart sealed new, and that device is overkill for the average tablet user in the world.
And they are becoming more and more powerful. Surpassing high end laptops with i7 processors in them, even beating high end gaming desktop i5/i7 processors from just a couple years ago. If this is not exciting I dunno what is..
The iPad is awesome! And it still rules the market to this day. I love it!

When the original iPad was released I thought what’s the point in it, now it’s my most used device
I’ve owned the original iPad, the iPad 2 and the original iPad mini. After the mini was involved in a grape juice incident, I went without an iPad for a few years. Late last month I picked up a iPad Air(2019), and I have to say it is an amazing device.

I wasn't into Apple at the time. Now I am only into Apple.
iPad 2 onwards became my workstation.
I have mixed feelings about the 2019 Apple. On one hand, they make premium products sold at a premium price. I have a MBP MBA, 12.9 and 11 iPPs, an Apple Watch 4 and an iPhone X so I am all in on Apple. And yet...there is nothing really magical about any of them. They are all nice products and the ecosystem makes it very convenient to use Apple products seamlessly. I also use a Windows laptop, have a Windows gaming machine and use Android tablets at work for developing cross platform mobile apps. The Apple products are not that much better and in some cases lacking in certain features. The days of being blown away by a product launch are a fading memory. That first generation iPad launch introduced an entire new paradigm and really was revolutionary. Now we get emojis and watch faces and things like overpriced speakers that aren't as feature complete as the competitions. iOS is advancing at a glacier's pace, especially for iPads. The magic is fading for me. Perhaps they'll introduce something surprising at the conference in June, but I have muted expectations about what I expect will be minor, incremental enhancements. Hope I am pleasantly surprised...
I don’t agree. I find the products magical compared to the competition.
On paper Apple products are nothing special.
But the experience is what nails it for me.
Apple has forgotten that their products are, in effect, tools. Really nice tools, but tools nonetheless. Tools to listen to music. Tools to do productive work. 2019 Apple is focusing too much on the really nice, and not enough on the tools.

WAIT JUST ONE SECOND!... where on Walmart's site or stores have you seen iPad Pros for $299.99? I checked, and I only see $450-500 and what not. $300 for a gen 2 iPad Pro is something I might like to get my mum for a Christmas Present or something.

The experience is what has left me a disappointed and thinking things could be better (particularly looking at iOS on the iPad). As I said, I'm a huge Apple fan but I just don't see anything spectacular being released. They are slowly morphing into just another tech company. But if you still find things magical, than enjoy the experience!
Guess it's relative. I find FaceID to be magical. Having 1Password auto-fill logins in apps and Safari logins is magical. Getting into a car and having it tell me "You have a 9:00 appointment. Do you want to navigate there?" is magical. Sharing app data (such as Safari tabs) between all devices is a simple concept but magical when it works. True, the changes are more in software than hardware but they are becoming mature products and it's inevitable. We do know that there are some areas which are ripe for development. If the watch, for example, can show blood sugar levels in a non-invasive manner that may not be magical but would have a huge impact.
I would agree that keynotes are no longer that exciting for me. I'm not interested in emojis or FaceTime sharing or bokeh. But I do find the HomePod to be an incredible product. It isn't overpriced if they are, as reported, selling it at cost or a loss given the sound quality. But that's my personal preference. I don't want to talk to a speaker, I want to listen to it.

I love my 11" iPad Pro and use it everyday! If something happened to it, I would have to get another that day. It does all of my home Internet, banking and email. I would be lost without it.
Gone are the days of doing these things on my laptop!
Same here! I’m loving mine to the death! Though, I don’t use it everyday like you, only when I use it to occasionally write, read and Netflix.
Having recently graduated, I have no use for a laptop to do all the heavy lifting that needed to be done. The iPad Pro does the job nicely without missing too much on the portability side. Getting the Smart Keyboard was the best decision ever!
I tried the keyboard but most of my use is sitting in my lazyboy with my iPad in my lap and the keyboard did not do well for that.
I love my 3rd generation 12.9” IPP. Little to no complaints.
I bought my first iPad back in March of 2011. It was an iPad 2.
I had that a little also. Same with the Apple Watch. I don't use any Apple device more than my iPad.
I guess my point is that most or all of those things are not unique to Apple and available on other platforms. Ironically, I would consider a non-invasive blood sugar measurement as something magical!
