What would make you go back or swap to apple?

I have been mainly an android user and like it. I have had apple (6s+) and also liked it.

I like big phones and my usages have changed of late so my reasoning for stay on android is diminishing.

Rumours of new 6.1" iPhone with a slightly lower price tag could be enough to get me to go back to IOS.

As long as price not too high it is unaffordable on pay monthly plan.

Is anyone else thinking of swapping sides?

mid next year my contract due for renewal, if the new phone is out then it could sway me back.

It is point of no return, been using Iphone for a long time, switched this year never been happier. Never will return to 'walled' OS and the high priced yet always backward tech. Think twice before jumping back.

well my usage is just as phone/email and social consumption with few games.

walled in is not gonna be an issue for me now.

I love my Huawei mate 9 but my main move from the 6s+ to the mate 9 was usb host.

which is no longer an issue.

both OS has pro and con.
I'm gonna see when my apple store has a demo model then play before commit.

They didn't offer a compelling upgrade for me this year so I tried out Android (Note 8) for first time and was very pleasantly surprised. I had heard such awful things on these forums about Samsung (bloatware, lag, etc) but that hasn't been my experience thus far. Still have my Macbook Air and am upgrading my iPad Pro 9.7 to the 10.5 for Christmas so I'm still interested in Apple if/when I think they're offering the best alternatives for me personally.

They will have to offer more compelling phone features and pricing (the notch, Face ID-only, and smaller screen plus eye-popping price for 256GB turned me off). No longer willing to pay an Apple premium just because...

I would miss the S pen, virtual home button, back button, touch ID, big beautiful screen, and customization if I returned to an iPhone. I do miss the convenience of Apple store's CS, iCloud and iMessage but not enough to switch back for current and projected 2018 offerings.

A metal back iPhone with the X design does interest me more than OLED ones with glass rears. But I could never leave Android completely for it. Most of my paid apps are with Android. Go read my comment in the what Android can do that iPhone can't. I'm very much against iOS and how it works.

I use both and don't really pick sides though. I tolerate iOS enough to do some basic stuff. In a year, my two phones could be the 6.1" iPhone and Pixel 3 or neither one. Been using iOS and Android together since 2011 and need multiple daily drivers for work, so I don't need to be exclusive to one platform.

Closed ecosystems are divisive and outdated.

Big Nexus stock Android fan, I've owned 20+ smartphones over the past 5 years, and 3 of those were iPhone's, going back to the Apple with iPhone 7 Plus last year, was a better experience than expected, but...that lasted a few months before I just couldn't deal with the locked down, closed OS, and then just iOS overall being so bad; mainly the sh!tty notification system, and the way the decade old Phone app worked, and widgets in iOS seems half baked, made me run back to Android.

I do like the iPhone X a lot, I play with it every time I'm at best Buy or Target, and it's a stunner and super cool phone. But after that cool hardware wares off, it's still running iOS, which hasn't changed in like a decade.

If there's a stable untethered JB released for iOS 11, I'd get the X. There are times i see the X in the store, and I think, yeah let's switch, and go iPhone, because the X is so beautiful and with the gestures operates so slick. Then I remember I've had that feeling three times in the past, and it typically fades away a few weeks or couple months later, and I run back to Android. To me it's more iOS than the phone hardware itself, yes the X is top of the line, best of the best as far as hardware package, but man iOS, I just don't know if that could be my 'daily driver'

I still have one of my three T-Mobile sims in my Note 8 but it's not my favorite phone anymore. I bought the 7+ a few weeks ago and I'm loving it. I also bought a pair of AirPods and those are amazing.

My US unlocked S8+ is sitting in it's box. It has a problem where it tends to lose it's data connection a few times a week and I either have to reset network settings or reboot the phone. Got tired of doing that and put it's sim in my SE.

I'll see what happens next year with Samsung. As for other phones, I'm just not interested.

It's hard to disagree with a lot of what he says when it comes to third-party apps, stability, performance, etc.

Apple should implement something like an "Advance Mode" for the home screen. Something like how Samsung has an Easy and Standard Mode selection. This way the iOS home screen would still be the same by default, but if users want to customize, they can switch to "Advance Mode".

The AirPods I would never buy... I dislike pretty much everything about them. As for the iPhone and Apple Watch. Had the pair as daily driver for 2 years and now much prefer the Note 8 and Gear S3 combo.

So personal preference... Glad we have such great choices.

That is a great idea.....Apple really needs to step up and let its customer have a little more control over the homescreen. I mean its 2018 and I still can't rearrange icons where i want them.

Yeah, they work great with Android - it's pretty much as easy to switch devices too:

For example, if they're connected to my iPad all I have to do to connect them to my Note 8 is open Samsung Connect from my notification shade then turn on AirPods. They disconnect from my iPad and connect to my phone without any issues

I think she's with Sprint and they keep telling her a fix to this problem (which seems known to her) will be coming in the next month or two. She's beside herself because its almost impossible for her to use the phone because of this issue. She's now looking to sell the phone (at a loss). I have to say issues like that, and reliance on the carriers to roll out android updates is a major issue. Its a double edge sword, it allowed Android to quickly grow, but its inhibiting Android from improving. Updates on older phones slows down to a trickle. I think this is a major reason why people switch back.

Totally agree with you on this about carriers being a roadblock to Android phones. I wish the phone makers had more control.
The Essential phone has a had a ton of issue unrelated to carriers. It has been a mess right from the start. It is more a work in progress. She should sell that phone and move to another......

You certainly can’t. You can throw in the Apple TV iPad and MacBook to that as well. It all just works really well together.
