Currently on the iPhone 7 w/ 256 GB.
And I really can’t even imagine any feature that could potentially make me want to upgrade.
The phone is already slightly too large for comfort. It requires two hands to safely operate and type to prevent risk of dropping it.
The iPhone 5 was just about right size wise.
We’ve hit a point where phones have already become about as amazing as is possible without a huge change in direction. There’s just really only so much this type of technology can do. It’s all essentially tweaks and software.
We’ve hit a point where there just isn’t going to be a massive wow factor announcement.
Pretty much what I’m waiting for is a fully interactive Virtual Reality phone / Computer.
Something I can go about my daily life without having any physical handheld device that I need to physically hold or carry.
If I want to make a call, I speak to call and it happens. I hear their voice, they hear mine. I have no physical device I’m holding or interacting with.
If I want an app, I speak it, and it shows up holographically in front of me. And I can touch the points in the virtual hologram to interact or control the screen to make things happen.
Maps show up visually in front of me, I can zoom, turn the image, see as much or little as I want. Have it as big as I want since the only limit is my range of visual space (no physical screen to limit size).
Can see all levels of depth in front of me as if I was there. More as you zoom in.
All apps work similarly.
Now... when that phone is released, then I’m in the market for an upgrade.
Until then, I expect this phone is perfect for me until it either doesn’t work, or Apple forces abandonment (more strictly than the whole 32-BIT cutoff), or my carrier won’t allow it on the network anymore.
There’s really only so much the current path can do. The I gotta have it factor really disappeared at the iPhone 3 level for me.
