I think more base RAM would be what I would need. I'm on an M1 Pro so I don't really need to upgrade, and the fact M3 is STILL starting at 8gb is ridiculous. So I don't have a need to upgrade yet. It probably won't be until the M4 family that I leave M1 Pro.
I was considering an M3 Pro with 32GB of RAM or even an M3 Max with 64GB of RAM before the show. The M3 Pro is a sidegrade mostly. The M3 Max is way too expensive.

I might seriously consider just selling my M1 Pro and buying another M1 Pro with 32GB of RAM instead. Or maybe find a sweet M2 Pro deal.

Go with the M2 Pro, it really does make a difference. I got a Mini M2 Pro 32G and like it a lot. (which you know takes some doing for me. :)

When I was choosing which Mac Studio I wanted to get the most powerful version I could. I purchased a M1 Max 32GB of memory. I would have loved to have purchased an Ultra but I could not see paying over $1500 bucks more the get 64GB of memory. As for internal storage my many years of iPhones have taught me how much I actually need especially with iCloud. I was not going to pay the premium Apple gets for their internal SDD's. I have settled on 1TB of internal for all of my future devices unless the price come down on larger internal SDD's. With the Mac Studio I have a total of 20 TB of external storage available.

I’ll wait for the 4 with TB 5, WiFi 7, and hopefully dump the useless hdmi and sd ports for a fourth TB port.
+1
TB5 is a must at this point, TB4 speeds have been around since 2016. SSDs are much faster than TB3/4 can handle.
