Thanks! I'm very pleased with it. And will be even more after the ssd and ram update :)

If you don't need the portability then go with the current mini. I've got the current i7 2.6GHz and it's a great machine. I do some video encoding on it and it's fine for that. The cooling design means it's a bit noisy when doing this, but I don't encode all the time so I can live with that. For everything else is is whisper quiet and very fast.

If another machine comes out soon you can always sell the one you have. You probably wouldn't lose money if they cost so much more in Europe.

True, my plan exactly. If an amazing mini comes out in the next few weeks I just might consider to sell this one.

On the other hand, I have to stop wanting the latest stuff. Even this mini is probably over powered for the things I do on it ...

oh my god!!

Yesterday I installed 256 samsung EVO and 8gb Crucial ram into my new i7 mini.

This thing is fast !! Wow!

For everybody who is waiting for the "new" mini! Stop waiting! Just get the 2012 and tune it with SSD and Ram !

Cool I just bought my i7 if I install my own 256 ssd do I lose the 1 tb of space that comes with the Mac mini or is that added on to the space that's already installed.

The mini has two drive bays. If you just get an SSD you will have to swap out the HDD for the SSD. If you want both drives installed at the same time, you need to get a kit to install the drive in the second bay http://www.amazon.com/Doubler-Drive...d=1394428566&sr=8-2&keywords=owc+data+doubler
