:D

I will give you $100 if Apple ships a Laptop this year (2009) with a Trackpoint.

Promise.

Not that I want a trackpoint in any Mac notebook this year, but I want to know if they do ship a trackpoint in 2009, WILL YOU GIVE ME $100 too??? I think you're pretty safe. Apple does make the coolest Silky Smooth Glass Trackpad, ever! I gave up my mouse when I switched to the Unibody MB - that is one amazing trackpad. Since I have switched to a MBA revB, and I miss that "Silky Smooth" Glass Trackpad. So feel free to guarantee me $100 if somehow, someway Apple ships a trackpoint during 2009, LMAO!

Many in this thread seem to be falling all over themselves making absurd demands (quad core!?), but the question really should be: Will Apple make another Macbook Air? Under pressure from all those damn netbooks, Apple could just phase it out and concentrate on other things. I don't think that'll happen, but it certainly could.

2nd USB port, or at very least a way to run superdrive with a hub, or a hub in the superdrive (which would seem the obvious solution, though may require separate power)

Folding a power brick and USB hub into the superdrive seemed obvious to me.

A second USB port is definitely a no-brainer along with the expected iterative upgrades (4GB RAM).

Really what I'd like to see is a smaller footprint. The MBA is not a particularly small and light notebook. There should be almost zero screen bezel ideally. And, of course, I would actually consider buying one if it were available in matte.

WOO!!!!
TOTALLY FORGOT THAT
YES! THEY SHOULD ADD A USB HUB TO THE NEXT SUPERDRIVE
ITS PERFECT
I MEAN
USE THE MACBOOK AIR'S ONE USB PORT TO CONNECT TO A CD DRIVE. 2-3 USB PORTS! ETHERNET! PROJECTOR PORT THING! ETC. well i can only imagine another USB port being put but...lets hope for more!

OH AND PLEASE TRY NOT TO INSULT OR USE SARCASM TO ANYONE IN THIS THREAD THIS WAS MEANT FOR EXPRESSING WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE IN THE NEXT MACBOOK AIR!

Besides, this is about wants and dreams. Why do you have to rip on people? This is not what I think it will get. Before you act like a jerk, perhaps you should consider the point of the thread is for all of us to share what we want and NOT to criticize what others want. Sad that you have to be that way.

Oh im sorry for burning all your wants and dreams, dont cry baby and grow up please.

Intel have to make i7's quad first which is going to take a while, and then make them mobile, thats going to be so far into the future the new 17"MBP which is its most likely candidate will be a whole new model not even new revision, let alone the MBA.

I want a 15" screen, better processor, more RAM, and the option for 256GB SSD. :)

Hear me out...:)

Ultimately I want Apple to set up and maintain free WiFi networks for their users. This would encourage people to purchase Apple products because they could be used with WiFi wherever they went. Apple could issue a code or use serial numbers to access the networks. I think then Apple will be able to tout the MBA and iPhone/iPod Touch WiFi connectivity as a major feature. Eventually (soon) the MB & MBP will be advertised in this manner as well. If there is one big thing Apple could do to revolutionize the computer and wireless industries, it's this.

Nice, really great. Call someone a cry baby.

You know I didn't recognize you because you changed your photo. Yes, you are the one that said that Apple is not creating netbooks because the netbook market is "saturated." When in fact, what Steve Jobs said is it's a nascent market and Apple is seeing how it develops. See, nascent is not referring to the market as saturated but rather is just beginning and Apple is waiting to see if worthwhile to build netbooks.

And in another post you said you're a "developer" and that you are running Snow Leopard Beta on an original MacBook Air. And that it runs as fast as Leopard on a unibody MB with an Nvidia GPU. Made some contradictory statements there. What about all your fabrications about what you believe Snow Leopard is and isn't and how it uses resources. I have found you feed people false or incorrect information more often than not.

Actually you have come up with some pretty incredible replies to threads. Often I feel like calling you out but I bite my tongue as you quote people wrong, give the wrong information, or come up with outrageous claims.

Your attitude is disgusting... This is a friendly site with people who love Macs sharing information. Not a place to attack someone for stating their wants are for a MBA which I said was my "dream system" and not what I think will be in the revC MBA.

Call me a cry baby all you want. I consider the source, as when I read your replies, I consider the source.

hmmm......that actually has about a 60% chance of happening
think of Apple and ATT liek pairing up for free Wi-Fi at their hotspots like for the iPhone

I FIND ALL CAPS TO BE RUDE BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU'RE YELLING THE WHOLE TIME.

Can't we all just get along... We all use/love Macs... Life doesn't get any better than this... well I guess with every Mac revision or update... and with every new version of OS X 10.x... and of course with every iLife and iWork release.

And the rumors and our wishes for the next great MAC bring us all together here at MacRumors.com - what a great site!

Go Apple! Go Mac! & Go Mac Rumors!

In your own words:

Call me a cry baby all you want. I consider the source, as when I read your replies, I consider the source.

So consider the source, Steve says the netbook market is nascent, oh wait, this is the same Steve who said he's fine, not ill at all, all back together now, but then a week later says he needs 6 months off work

STEVES WORD IS NOT THE WORD OF GOD.

The netbook market is saturated, not by products but by manufacturers.
Yes, i agree totally, it is nascent, it is growing, but theres no space for Apple with its current business model.

And in another post you said you're a "developer" and that you are running Snow Leopard Beta on an original MacBook Air. And that it runs as fast as Leopard on a unibody MB with an Nvidia GPU.

Whats contraditory about that? Get the developer version, install it, run Xbench or GeekBench and see for yourself, doesn't take a genius.

What about all your fabrications about what you believe Snow Leopard is and isn't and how it uses resources. I have found you feed people false or incorrect information more often than not.

Such as? I've only ever helped people. The only times im not helping people are when im being ironic, but perhaps that goes over your head, not my fault.

Your attitude is disgusting... This is a friendly site with people who love Macs sharing information. Not a place to attack someone for stating their wants are for a MBA which I said was my "dream system" and not what I think will be in the revC MBA.

Which is why your attacking me? Hmmm moral high ground dilema.
I would like to point out you started this argument calling me:

Before you act like a jerk, perhaps you should consider the point of the thread is for all of us to share what we want and NOT to criticize what others want.

Sad that you have to be that way.

a jerk, nice, and i hadn't even said anything to you! how rude!
I think you should learn some manners.

I had simply been making some valid points about the post above mine, and trying to educate people that Quad Cores arnt the next logical step in the processor adoption schedule.

I'm sorry if i caused you any personal offence.
If you think i've given someone incorrect advice feel free to point it out to me, I dont hold back when I see someone else has given bad advice because it can be dangerous.

They are not.

Dual-cores will stay in the LV/ULV area for a long time now, as Intel has also focused on clock speed and microarchitecture as well as multi-core. The next "big" step in sub-35 W Intel CPUs is 32 nm Arandale, coming in March 2010, which replaces Havendale/Auburndale with built-in GPUs (versions without GPUs may still be released). Arandale is still dual-core. So it seems that quad-core may be limited to Lynnfield/Clarksfield and their 32 nm versions through 2010. Sandy Bridge, in 2011, focuses on power consumption, so we may see quad-core Sandy Bridge CPUs fit for the MacBook Air then.

I would like:

Longer battery life, 6-7 hours maybe
Higher resolution (1440x900?)
A buttonless trackpad with full multi-touch, like the macbook one but it doesn't have to be glass if that ups the weight or thickness

Other than that I think the air is perfect as is, I would buy one tomorrow if the battery life was actually better than the macbook. The other things would be nice but I am living without them now so I'm sure I'd cope.

I have a RevA/1.6/80HDD and am a big enough fan that if it dies tomorrow I'd pickup a 1.86/128gbSSD, but my RevA works so well now, the RevB just doesn't justify itself for me at this point. Hopefully my RevA (and my willpower) will last to RevC

Things I think we'll see and that are very important to me

1) Fix the RevB Screen Issues
2) 256gb SSD
3) 4gb RAM
4) 2ghz processor
5) better battery life (4-5 hours)

Note that its possible tha the first two items will become availabe as part of RevB over time.

Things I'd like to see:
5) much better battery life (8 hours)
6) a second USB port
7) aluminum keycaps like the last gen of MBP's.
8) built in 3G modem
