Thanks. Hmmm. Chipset. I have poor coverage where I live. But it works well enough 98% of the time. I might buy the iPhone 11 because I want a change. I'll try the (to me) big phone out even though I'm skeptical I'll like it. In a years time I'll eat the depreciation if need be. Decisions, decisions. Let's see what Black Friday brings.

The US puzzles me sometimes. On one hand, you are home to innovative companies such as Apple, google, Uber and amazon. On the other hand, I am enjoying 1 gb optic fiber internet here in Singapore as an entry level plan, it’s fast enough for streaming 4K and torrents and everything I do, and the idea of data caps on something as basic as home internet simply boggles the mind.
When cable companies have exclusive rights to areas, they don’t need to keep updating their equipment. Why spend money when you have a captive audience.

honestly apart from downloads not something you will badly notice. will take a few years I imagine until the speeds are that amazing

Here's my 10 Cents. There will probably be a better camera on next year's 5g model. 5G is going to open up a lot of potential to developers and those people who really need the high speeds. As has been mentioned on this thread I don't think it is going to make much difference to the regular 4g users as this new technology is developed.

What I would be wary of is the first generation Apple 5G phone, a lot of people will be paying a lot of money to be Apple's guinea pigs. The second or third iteration Apple 5G iPhone will most likely come with greater improvements and be more streamlined for the emerging technology.

It’s a stupid vicious cycle, they keep making the programs bigger and bigger so we need more storage, then they need to increase download speeds to make the time needed acceptable.

So far I haven’t come across many use cases from the real world.

Faster networks are to be expected as technology progresses but I’d appreciate if we could get away from bandwidth limitations once and for all in return.

My work is a dead zone and I have the same 1 to maybe 2 bars here that I got on my intel Xs max, 11 and both of my previous 8+. Maybe it’s down to the T-Mobile deadzone
1-2 bars is not dead zone, dead zone is when 0-1 bar in underground situation or in area with large forestations. i drive through parts of highways where its considered a deadzone, the intel iphone was not able to get any signal.

That is 1-2 bars in ideal spots. Plenty of time I bounce from no service to 1 bar.

Antenna requirements for 5G are crazy ... combined with really fast 5G won't have building penetration anyway.

Sure T-Mobile is going to release 5G on its lower frequencies ... but its speed will be no better than current 4G.

Current 5G modems, when on 5G (higer frequency bands) ... their goes your battery.

I just got the 11 Pro ... I am going to sit on this guy for a few years easy. It will take that long to get 5G US nation wide ... and will probably take that many cycles to get the 5G modems down to acceptable battery consumption levels.

Think about it too ... carriers are going to beef up small cell sites and the like for better coverage for 5G. If they throw 4G on those same small cell sites ... 4G has no choice but to improve along the way.

Sure, I will end up with 5G, but only as a normal upgrade in with a little luck 3-5 years.

5G is only worth it if you have unlimited data, otherwise 4G gives you better control over your data plan.
This makes 0 sense. Unless you're intentionally streaming a ton of video, 100 MB on LTE is the same as 100 MB on 3G or 5G. Differnence is how fast the content downloads. Watching a 5 minute YouTube video may take 2 minutes to load on 3G, 1 minute to load on LTE, and 20 seconds to load on 5G, but you're still watching a 5 minute video. Also, all carriers in the US have had an unlimited data plan requirement to access 5G.

I have an iPhone 8. I'm thinking of getting a version of the iPhone 11. But the rumors say that next year every iPhone will have 5G.

I talk, text, take photos and use Apple maps with my iPhone 8. I buy apps and download their updates. Once or twice I have streamed video content on my iPhone 8. Even then, I used wifi.

As far as I know, 5G increases data speeds. So is it really important to me? I don't do data intensive things on my iPhone. It would be fun to get some version of the iPhone 11. But if somebody has a reason why G5 is important to my use case I'll wait until next year to upgrade my phone.
True 4G LTE is all that is enough for just about anyone, unless you plan on downloading large files.
