What's left to change in Yosemite's UI

Definitely the Icons.

The idea with the 'flat look' isn't bad, but the Icons should be more elegant, filigree - currently it looks a little bit like painted by a child. Compare e.g. the analogue clock in the System Preferences or the Dashboard Icon between 10.6 Snow Leopard and 10.10 Yosemite PB4 ....

Apart from that it would be nice if exiting the Dashboard would work again like Launchpad or like in Snow Leopard.

i only ask because i am completely new and an alien to mac and also i will be installing bootcamp to install windows 8.1 in order to use solidworks cad and microsft word

also is bootcamp better than parallels for installing soildworks cad and microsoft word?

also this is for when i transfer documents from windows to mac which may carry virus or anything as such

----------

1. They forgot to change the General icon in all the apps preferences panes. It is only changed in voice over app and now in iTunes 12.

2. The beach ball is still glossy. Where is the new one?

3. The highlight color for the buttons in game center is in a strange pale shade of blue, why isn't it the same shade of blue as everywhere?

sorry i hijacked your post but i dont know where to make a new thread cant seem to find it. please forgive me for the intrusion

You might as well use Pages that you get free with your Mac instead of Word. You can still export as .docx and .doc. As for Anti Virus, you don't need it when running OS X, but you will need it when using Windows (unless you only use Auto Cad and do all internet activity in OS X).

Even if it did, it won't affect OS X.

Dashboard widgets still looks like the old design, totally out of place, i use the dashboard a lot... Dont think the notification widgets replace it, still needs graphical updates :apple:

I think Apple thinks widgets do replace it. I won't be surprised if they're gone in 10.11.

The video player in iTunes seems to have been completely overlooked.

I also encountered many apps where the frosted-glass effect is not consistently applied, like iTunes and the App Store (mainly in the toolbar and 'sub toolbars'). The Notes app also doesn't really fit in with it textured background and white sidebar.

I also miss the bounciness of the chat bubbles in the Messages app, like in iOS. It looks more static in Yosemite.

the clock within the pane in Yosemite is not as clear as it is in Mavericks.

You will have to explain that. The numbers seem much more easy to read in the new version. The contrast between the background and the foreground is also much higher in the new version. The hour, minute and second hands are thicker and easier to read.

It's important to keep an anti-virus app to protect documents you share with non-Mac users. I caught three spyware infections in Word documents.

I also caught something in the cache files of Safari when I visited one of those tinypic-like websites linked from a forum post. Nothing serious of course, but it's good to know that I can keep my Mac free of malicious software, even if it's harmless on the Mac. There's more rubbish code out there than people realise, even though it won't affect their Macs.
