The fact that Silicon Valley is a superior program to the Big Bang Theory is just further truth we are moving past the age of Network Television.

I was looking at the stuff offered on Apple TV and it's apparent that as time goes by more and more content will come directly through streaming services bypassing cable companies. I'm looking forward to it.

We're hooked on Bloodline on Netflix. Three episodes left and it's got us hooked

The wife and I just finished Bloodline ourselves. I must say this show was really quite exceptional. The style of story telling, the writing, the characters, etc. It was all great. They gave you information while still keeping you in the dark about the details at the same time, making the suspense incredible. My wife described the show as a "slow burn" and I think that's applicable. You keep asking yourself how far is this going to go, how much can this character push things (Danny) and how far are these characters (his family) going to allow it to go. Looking forward to season 2.

I highly recommend it to folks who enjoy the genre of drama, suspense, or thrillers.

The show exceeded my expectations by a lot. My wife gave up after 2 episodes. LOL

Modern Family- I am impressed how this show has held its edge for so long. We laugh out loud each episode. And loving the Dumphy's new neighbors, Ronnie and Amber. Just watched the episode where they take care of another neighbor's phallic sculpture in the front yard. Ronnie: "We did not spend the money to move into a neighborhood like this to that. Porn should be on the big tv or on the phone in the bathroom!" :D

I started watching the new Daredevil series on Netflix. It's well made, and has gotten lots of positive reviews. Unfortunately, it didn't really hold my interest past the fifth episode, but I may come back to it later. There's a decent amount of hand-to-hand combat (a lighter version of something like Banshee), and it's much darker and grittier, which actually works pretty well for this type of show, somewhat similar to Arrow. I think my issue with it (aside from the crime procedural aspect) is that I'm just worn out from all the superhero shows and movies lately.

Love that show! No one likes to watch food network?? :(

The food network lost my interest after they stopped airing episodes of Iron Chef, Iron Chef America, and Throwdown with Bobby Flay.

I still think the best Throwdown episode was when he went up against Father Leo Patalinghug in a fajita battle. Even thinking about that episode now makes me salivate.

BL.

For food category, I've been watching reruns on Netflix of Layover with Anthony Bordain. The premise is that he's on one-hour layover in various destinations and wants to get something to eat.

It results in his unleashing unpredictable stories about a place, a people and their food. He is high octane, gritty, caffeinated and traveling with a sense of urgency.

He lets loose some colorful language here and there, such as blurting out, "I want to score a ****** ing hot dog!" while being filmed riding in a cab. It had a Howard Stern sensibility while visiting interesting eateries.

Last Days in Vietnam

Tonight on PBS' American Experience.

Outstanding look at the last days of America's tragic experience in Vietnam. This film was an Oscar Nominee earlier this year. And no commercials too.

Golden Girls- enjoyable 1980s sitcom, currently showing in Syndication on Hall ark Channel. First watched this in my 30's. I watch it then as now to keep the wife company, but it's still good. :)

Bloodline- Original Netflix drama about a family with baggage, set in the Florida Keys. Described as a slow burn nightmare set in paradise. Two episodes in and it's keeping me engaged. :)

For Memorial Day I watched the BBC mini series "Our World War" on Netflix. It's three episodes long and covers three events during WW1. It's in the style of "Band of Brothers" although they have a different cast for each episode. I found it to be very good.

I watched the first episode and I'm hooked! Good to see Sam Shepard and Sissy Spacek again.

Is this as good as Daredevil? I just finished the daredevil season finale and now I have nothing to do and I'm questioning my existence.

I highly recommend Bloodline. It's not an "action" genre like Daredevil, but instead clearly an intense drama centered around a family, their dysfunctional relationships, and their traumatic past. Really worth watching in my opinion.

Agreed, it's not like Daredevil, but worth watching. For impulse, if you demand constant action, you won't like it. Besides some things happening, crimes commited, investigations, there a lot of family based reflection about the past and skeletons in the closet, in fact it's on the verge of too much. I remember thinking by episode 5, "Ok I got it!". ;) The best thing to do is watch episode 1 and 2 and see what you think.

I actually tend to like more character-driven drama compared to action, so I'll give Bloodline a shot. I tend not to like action as much but Daredevil is in a completely different league.

Just watched a very interesting BBC historical documentary (on BBC2) on the 1945 General Election (or, more to the point, watched a documentary which looked at why Winston Churchill lost the 1945 General election); entitled 'When Britain said No'. Well made and most interesting.

Saw the first commercial about the upcoming season of "The Strain". I hope the second season is as good as the first one.

We've been watching the mini series event, "Wayward Pines". It's pretty good so far.

I also caught the premiere of "The Island" last Monday. It has peaked my reality tv interest so I'm gonna keep watching.

Is The Island anything like Survivor?
