Xmas at any time is rarely on my mind, but definitely not in June or July.

Father’s Day is in June, but that’s just another day I try to forget since we lost Miss AFB. 10 years and it still hurts more than I care to admit.

Supposedly here on Friday he'll visit, please forgive the cryptic nature of me trying (and failing, as is my wont) to weave disparate dates and timelines into a cohesive colourful cloak.

Didn't mean to tap past angst!

"Xmas in July" reminded me of a church where my mother and I went that had a Christmas in July at least one year. I don't remember much, except the minister talking about getting tree from another church that did the same thing, but a week earlier. He drove down the freeway with this tree, and he said other drivers could not stop staring. Hopefully, there were no crackups, although one could imagine the news story: "Major freeeway pileup caused by out-of-season Christmas tree."

I ordered some new o-rings from Pilot for my fountain pens.

Last night, they went on a trip around Sydney.

Note that the pick up place, Prestons, is only about 15 km away.

It then went to Smeaton Grange, which is only about 1.5 km away. Then it went about 30 km NE to Chullora, then 5 km E to Strathfield, then back to Chullora, then about 15 km S to Sydney South, then about 10 km NE to Alexandria, then about 40 km SW to Ingleburn, then a further 10 km SW to Narellan, where it has been picked up by a Postie and will be arriving soon. Total trip about 130 km.

If it had stayed at Smeaton Grange, it would have been picked up at about 7:30, without travelling around Greater Sydney. The cost of that trip is about 20 times the value of what's in the package...

Met a neighbour who has become a friend this morning for a coffee and a chat, which covered topics such as (unwelcome and somewhat questionable renovation in houses that have recently changed hands) changes on our road, travel, politics, and books.

Dentist visit needed?
Perhaps; obviously, this is not possible over the week-end (late Friday night - early Saturday morning - is the very worst time of the week for such a thing to happen, still less, when it is what wakens you up around 03.00 am).

We shall see how it is tomorrow; for now, while it is still sufficiently distantly present for me to know - to be aware - that it is still there, (and yes, I have been treating it with ibuprofen and clove oil), the agony of the still dark hours of Saturday morning is no longer present.

Sorry to hear that. Not had too much of that in my life, but toothache can be deliberating.
Agonising.

I don't get them often, but recall - vividly - the few times it has happened.
Hope you can get a dentist appointment soon. I’ve not been to the dentist since we moved pre COVID. Nobody local is taking on patients.
Thank you.

I'll see how it is and how I feel tomorrow, but feel that a precautionary appointment might not be a bad idea.

I have a bit of a tooth issue too, and a daily swish of diluted hydrogen peroxide dramatically improved things. I do have a dental appointment for this as it involves a root issue. Regular (annual) dental exams with X-rays and cleanings can usually spot issues before they get worse.

Hope it improves, maybe even clears up. I'd still go for a visit to make sure.

Yes, I strongly suspect that a visit to the dentist lies in my near future.......

I'm at a point in my life where I just don't argue any more. If you say pigs can fly, then you're absolutely right. Not because I agree, but because I don't care enough to convince you otherwise. My peace is more valuable to me than being right. Silence is cheaper than explaining. And I can't be bothered wasting my energy any more. Some arguments aren't misunderstanding, they're invitations to drain yourself. So I keep quiet, smile, and keep my peace. I'm not loud. Not reactive, Just unbothered. I would rather share my positive energy with someone who is deserving. Respect me, and I'll respect you.

This is something that has been on my mind as well. I may occasionally make my opinions known on topics but going back and forth at this point really isn't all that worth it. Most people have already made up their minds. To go in circles about things that won't change is a complete waste of time. I admit I am a hypocrite when it comes to that at times but I am working on it.

You could also try cooled boiled water with salt in. Or whiskey?
Clove oil is also an excellent (but temporary) expedient for toothache (and yes, I had some to hand). As is the inevitable stock of ibuprofen (which has become somewhat depleted this past week-end, and must be replenished).

Whiskey, no. But I will not decline, disdain, or refuse a glass (or three) of good beer or fine wine, and they will fulfill much the same function.

I think I remember hearing of cloves used for tooth pain. I'm not 100% sure of this, but maybe it was mentioned in elementary school when we were doing some social studies unit talking about life in olden times.

I remember us reading some book in fourth grade that was a story that followed a family as times changed. I don't remember much, but I do remember at the start it would mention them doing something we'd take for granted in the 1980s, and then saying no, they didn't--that hadn't been invented yet!

I remember finding those social studies units interesting, although I now realize there were a number of issues with how some topics were covered, particularly anything related to history connected to Native Americans.

I knew someone who drank probably a bit too heavily at times for pain relief. Although he did not hold out for good beer or fine wine. I remember seeing a box of IIRC Carlo Rossi in his house. I remembered Carlo Rossi as a jug wine brand. Jug wine in a box...probably not the sort of thing oenophiles wax lyrical over...

I think the suggestion of whiskey was more for the antiseptic qualities of the high alcohol concentration. Much like Listerine. Imbibing is always optional.

Work is on my mind. I know I should be grateful to have a job in todays economy, but for whatever reason, I really do not want to go to work tomorrow.. more so than usual. Oh well, such is life.

I hope you're all doing well.
