Because I’ve done a few as weekend trade shows this year I have quite a glut of holiday time to book.
Well that and we don’t go on holidays anymore.
From what I understand, as you have a nice home in the countryside and you and Mrs. Apple Fanboy lo ve gardening and walks a stsaycation is a great holiday for you. I actually enjoy staying in Switzerland over the summer too as, heatwaves aside, the weather is perfact and there is a lot to do. I only miss the sea which, although the lakes are great, are not a substitute.

I miss the sea too. Where I grew up was less than 40 minutes from the sea. Here it’s more like 2-3 hours.

Yes we have a nice home but getting away is nice to. But Mrs AFB has no interest in trips. We’ve not been on holiday together for 16 years. I get the odd day or two away with friends.

I'm so jealous I count your blessings for you! I would love to live in a nice house, with a nice wife, at the ocean. I feel like I belong there. I have a feeling it's the key to the last 40 pounds, fitness and complete happiness. Alas, it can't happen. But that's fine, that's what dreams are for!

It’s good that you are trying to get to your goal weight, and I wish you the best of luck with it, but try not to define your happiness by it.

Yes I’m extremely lucky to have a nice house and a beautiful wife. In other ways not so much, but that’s life. I’ve had to work hard to get where I am. Some luck as well in terms of selling previous properties.

The trick (and difficult part) is learning to be happy and content where you are, not where you hope to be or wanted to be.

I'm generally happy where I'm at, but I don't want to spend the rest of my life here if I can help it. I feel like there's a better place for me and I want to get there. It's just not possible right now... if ever. But you're right, I should count my own blessings and try to be humble. It could always be worse.

I ran into Andreas from the gas station again today. He told me that his English dialect is actually Gaelic. He also mentioned that he understands Norwegians better than the Swiss. And he also fully grasped the point about Old English in Friesland.

And some any stuff...

Said about me:
Mr. B., you are a very matter-of-fact person.
