Winter does little for me, even though I have noticed that the days are beginning to lengthen.
The daylight lasting longer is good enough for me, at least during most of January, I become remarkably accepting of winter's downsides for quite awhile as soon as I notice it's nearly 5pm and still quite light out there. I think I like the cold weather better than you do, although when I lived in the city it seemed drearier than it does in the mountains: all that slush while one's walking about trying to get errands done seems to double the time and trouble of it all.
On my mind at the moment, how could I possibly have used up two boxes of mixed salad greens since last shopping? I must have got carried away tossing them into soups or pilafs or something; at any rate there's a change in lunch plans and after that, definitely a run into town to top off my supply of fresh produce.
Just as well this problem has drawn attention now, as we've a fresh round of snow coming in over the next few days.
