It might be a pain to have a delay, but better than have an issue on the runway. Just reading a story about someone in the UK stuck in the plane on the runway for the last 2 hours waiting to take off. That's got to be grim.
Anyway good luck with it.
Oh my god, yeah, no kidding. I’ve had flights stuck on the ground, but never for 2 hours.

Unfortunately, DFW currently appears to be fairly high on the Flight Aware misery index. I wish you luck.

When is the latest you can get there? I'm imagining a lot of airport closures tomorrow which will affect the entire country. But I'm not an air traffic controller, so could be wrong about that.

One time in Pittsburgh we went through deicing and then the delay was so long, we had to deice again. And then wait again. Kind of nerve-racking when you had to deice a second time, but still waited a while before takeoff.

Actually, I had a similar experience in Istanbul a number of years ago; surreal (in Istanbul, of all cities, a place where it hardly ever snows).

We were on the runway, and the whole process of deicing - it was fascinating to watch - took......some hours.

The only thing to do (shake an impotent fist at a sky covered in charcoal coloured clouds that were playing host to further snow falls? I don't think so) was to shrug, and accept it, and hope that my brother would learn of the inevitable delay before he headed out to the destination airport to meet me (he did, by the way; modern methods of communications do have some advantages).

Bailed and rebooked for tomorrow. Beyond frustrating.
No, it's life - and it could be an awful lot worse; the school will be understanding because the circumstances are beyond your control.

Once - and I was the professor who taught the course in question - I got caught in (on?) a flooded motorway, - I was travelling by bus, as it happened - and was stranded for several hours, (along with a great many cars) thereby missing the class that I was supposed to teach later that afternoon.

Anyway, I managed to reach a colleague (by mobile phone) and asked him to notify the students that I would not - could not - be present that day and would re-schedule the class when I next met the students; he stuck a note on the door explaining that "an act of God" had prevented my presence in my classroom, which the students found hilarious.

Bummer.
OTOH, sometimes it can be a bit of an adventure.

I was picking up a plane from Manus, PNG.* Flight started at Rabaul, on to Kavieng, then Manus (me), Wewak, Lae, Port Moresby.
It was late leaving Kavieng, so we had to overnight at a nice motel in Wewak. I got to wander down to the beach and watch a magnificent sunset.

I had that happen a number of times when flying in and out of Denver to visit my parents..... de-ice then go sit in line for a delayed take off slot and then have to de-ice again in order to actually take off.

Blood oranges - about the only positive aspect to winter that I can think of - are on my mind.

They should be appearing in our shops and on our shelves very shortly.

Actually, I had expected to see them just immediately before Christmas, but several of the vendors in the farmers' market informed me that the season (for blood oranges) was slow, or several weeks late, this year.

I find this to be a good outlook for life in general.. focus on the positive aspects of life.

I am becoming quite down personally, because I know winter will be ending soon. And so, I'll be forced to get up earlier via the sun, I will have to suffer in hot weather and become completely AC dependent, and I'll perpetually experience FOMO every weekend when I'm not out doing stuff. I'm already counting down the days until next October.

👍 blood orange season is usually around winter time. I like how they look like grapefruits on the inside.
Wish me luck guys! About to head to the airport.
Safe travels. Hope you head home safely.

Wishing for the preverbal band-aid to be ripped off...I'm waiting to hear back from the company I interviewed at last week and this is the part I dislike the most. The waiting. Just tell me yes or no and I can move on with my life.

I prefer early sunrises to getting up before it’s light. Just invest in some blackout curtains.

As for the FOMO, just forget it. Who cares what anybody else is doing? Just do what you enjoy alone or with someone. Ditch the social media and you don’t see the (often false) images of what others are up to.

That's a good idea, and I need to act on it (the black out curtains) I'm too addicted to the cheap dopamine from socials, though I agree.. life would be better without it.

I also find that I can't really date without socials.. if a girl can't find me on anything it's a bit sus from their perspective. Modern life sucks lol.

I’ll take your word for it. Social Media didn’t exist when I met Mrs AFB last century. I still think it is possible in this day and age to date just in the real world.
