Okay, now I'm not MySpace fan, but seriously. With this mentality we should close down all chat rooms, online dating services, heck, I'm sure there are some pedophiles on MacRumors forums. Let's close that down too.calebjohnston said:How about when girls become total sluts and break up with their boyfriends because they meet to many guys on myspace? That's probably a problem. Trust me.
How about all the kids that are molested on there every day?
How about the children that are setting up to meet "friends" from there, and then get kidnapped.
Need more?

I try not to think about it because I think it makes my blood pressure rise

UGH.

It definitely has more appeal to a younger audience. My 14 year old neice can't get enough of it.

Now before you go chastising me, I am ASTONISHED at what some 14 year olds know here - things and subjects I had not even dared to approach at that age - and they got it off the net form most conversations I've had.
That said, our local police here used a MySpace site to bust two kids that had beaten a couple of classmates to near senselessness. Yah, Myspace. Otherwise "vanity on acid" was a very adept description.
I'm 100% with that. The Internet is a fabulous, adult tool. Parents need to take responsibility for their children on the Internet just as they do in the real world.iGary said:If I had kids (no offense, kids), they wouldn't be on the Internet at all without my supervision.

I think this may only be United States though, not sure about international....
I have a myspace because an old friend on here (who is no longer) had one and said it was a decent way to meet people in your area and also broadcast/advertise for your own works. This has proven true for me on about the level I would have expected....I put in little and have taken out little. I've met 3 different people in my area (real life interactions) from having first met them on myspace....1 was psychotic and 2 were pretty cool. There are a lot of teenage drama queens (and kings for that matter), a lot of wanna-be haters, etc etc....if you search wisely it can be a useful tool I suppose.
All of the above stated, the pages are horrible and auto-play music/movies really bites. It does seem a bit slower on a Mac for whatever reason, but usually the pop-ups on PC end up equalling things out
yep, and that's exactly what I use it for. I've found friends from high school who I probably wouldn't have found otherwise. I don't use it to meet people, I don't use it as an e-popularity gauge, and I'm not too worried about all the crap people put on their pages.skipskop24 said:Well I for one think that Myspace is amazing. jaydub said:edit:// furthermore, I think a lot of the reason MySpace has gotten the reputation it has because it's the latest scapegoat on all the 20/20 investigations. People have been diddling children on the internet (and IRL!) long before MySpace was even a thought.
