I noticed that there's about half a dozen each of Klondike Solitaire games and Mahjong games in the App Store. I'm looking to find the best of each for playing in my spare time. Has anyone tried any of these games?

Thanks

I'd take mondo, even though it's slightly laggy (if you can deal with Crash's slowness, then you can deal with mondo's).

However, the developer of iSolitaire is coming out with Solitaire Top 3 which seems to be the one I'd choose...while only three variations, those are the only three I play anyway.

btw: does mondo say Mondo on the home screen or Solitaire?

I really like solitare forever. It has a bunch of great solitare games. Cool graphics. I just wish the cards were larger so older eyes could see them. I look like a dork playing with it a foot from my face. ;)

I loved it on the Mac...but when I saw it on the iPhone I was like why would you take the exact same UI and everything and just shrink it down? Makes it crowdy and small.

Thanks for the replies.

Has anyone tried "Solitaire City"? That one seems to have the most appealing graphics, based on the screen shot in the App Store.

I have Platinum Solitaire and I love it. Great interface/graphics and I like the other variations that it comes along with. Would definitely recommend.

Unable to decide between the many Mahjong apps on opening day I actually bought two of them! Aki Mahjong and Mahjong Solitare. Unfortunately I still can't really decide :)

I do like them both after playing a few starter boards, and each has its own distinct feel. Mahjong Solitare is a bit more cartoony/arcade-like but it also lets you zoom in on the board with the standard pinch gestures.

Either one of them would be a good time waster for you...

I personally have no problems with iMahjong. The main complaint appears to be that it's hard to select tiles, and it is.... until you figure out you can keep your finger pressed against the screen and move it around until the one you want to select is zoomed in on. Even if it sucks for $1 it's a good starting point, it's the only mahjong I plan on buying.

Hi,

I'm the developer of iSolitaire and my app Solitaire Top 3 has just been added to the App Store. If you loved iSolitaire then you'll love Solitaire Top 3 which also comes with FreeCell and Spider.

See http://solitaire.rustyredwagon.com for info and screenshots.

Enjoy!

I use mondo and would definitely recommend. Although its a little bit more expensive, it is a really pollished app. It works flawlessly with nice animations and beautiful graphics.

It does say "mondo" on the home screen, not solitaire. I don't find that an issue though.

I picked up Solitaire Forever and like it alot. 150 solitaire games and only $5.99.

The one thing I know the developer is working on is adding the ability to listen to your music library while playing. Good solitaire game.

For Mahjong, try Moonlite Mahjong Lite. It's a free version of Moonlite Mahjong.

The difference between the 2 is the free one comes with only 4 boards and the full version has 12.

Thank you for posting and letting us know about your new game. I had not seen it in the app store, but after looking at the screenshots on your site your game is the best I've seen. It is the only one that works in landscape mode. I've purchased it and am downloading it now.

Looks like a game called Moonlight Mahjong Lite just hit the appstore. 10 reviews, 4.5 stars and it's FREE. Haven't tried it yet though I certainly will, looks like it has 3d effects....

Actually, Solitaire Forever, mondo, and Platinum Solitaire are all landscape...

It is in 3D. You can rotate, zoom and change the angle of elevation in addition to just plain dragging the board around the screen. Pretty cool.

According to the reviews Platinum Solitaire doesn't play in landscape.

** Correction ** Just looked at it again and there is an updated version that does play in landscape. Original version didn't.

Solitaire top 3 is up as well. $4 and worth every penny. This the THE solitaire game for the iphone right now. I liked the hacked version a little bit better, I couldn't find an option to change the background, but I'll bet he's going to update it.

Yeah, I miss the wooden background myself. The touching also seems a bit finicky, sometimes I'm having trouble dragging large stacks of cards.

I second the request to bring the wooden background back to isolitaire/top3. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it included that theme. As of right now i'm watching to see what happens with top3 and mondo before i jump in.
