iMahjong is the best, the free ones look good but unlike imahjong theres only 3 or so possible board combinations.

I use mondo and would definitely recommend. Although its a little bit more expensive, it is a really pollished app. It works flawlessly with nice animations and beautiful graphics.

It does say "mondo" on the home screen, not solitaire. I don't find that an issue though.

Thanks for your recommendation. We've gotten some great reviews of Mondo Solitaire, but we're always trying to improve it.

We just released a new version that has much improved artwork for the cards, a number of new games (counting all of the variants, I think Mondo Solitaire has about 300 solitaire games in it).

For people who want the nice UI that Mondo Solitaire has, but only want the most popular Solitaire games, we just released Mondo Top 5 Solitaire for just $2.99.

Regarding the "mondo" as the name of the game... we wanted it to say "mondo Solitaire" but it wouldn't fit (it ended up with ... in the middle of the name). We thought just naming it "Solitaire" was too generic, so we went with "mondo"

We also recently released an update to our Aki Mahjong Solitaire game to clean up the tile artwork (redrawn by my lovely wife), and add things like pinching to zoom in. And an update to Mr. Sudoku as well to add some much-needed refinements to the UI.

Any comments/suggestions, please feel free. We want to continue improving our products.

:)

I've just bought Mondo Solitaire and overall am pleased with it, but I do have the following observations:

- Dragging

It's quite fiddly to drag and drop, especially when there are many columns of cards. The 'drop zone' could do with being a little larger.

- Single tap

Sometimes a single tap sends the card where you don't want it to go (often in error) and you then get a 'tainted' result if you undo. A 'tap-tap' option (i.e. tap card to select, tap destination to move) or perhaps a different way of judging whether the game is 'tainted' would fix that. Alternatively, an option to disable single tap moving of cards?

- Rules

I would like to be able to get the full set of rules from within the game via the 'i' button.

I love the random game selection but it can be tricky to work out what's going on via the condensed description you get now.

- Winnable games

For the games that are often winnable (such as Freecell, Seahaven Towers) by logic/skill I'd like an option to deal only winnable hands.

- Sea Haven Towers

And finally, one of my favourite games (and one of the main reasons I bought mondo) is Seahaven Towers as it was one of the first games I ever had for my Mac back in the 80's. In your version, it's possible to place any card into a blank column in the tableau. In all the other versions I've played you must place a king. An option to have the original rules would be cool for nostalgia and pedantry's sake :)

Yeah that's something we did in Aki Mahjong... we made the target zones larger for tiles the user was likely to tap on. It's a good suggestion.

Yep, we definitely want an option in the prefs to disable the single tap for moving of cards. I personally love it, but for certain games, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense (especially matching games like Fourteens).

- Rules

I would like to be able to get the full set of rules from within the game via the 'i' button.

That's probably doable -- we can control what is displayed in there. I believe, though, that while options are not displayed, the full rules are displayed now. Perhaps some of the rules just need to be expanded on a bit more.

- Winnable games

For the games that are often winnable (such as Freecell, Seahaven Towers) by logic/skill I'd like an option to deal only winnable hands.

- Sea Haven Towers

Interesting suggestion -- this one might actually be difficult to do, because it may not be particularly easy to determine whether a game is winnable or not.

And finally, one of my favourite games (and one of the main reasons I bought mondo) is Seahaven Towers as it was one of the first games I ever had for my Mac back in the 80's. I think it probably wouldn't be very hard to add that in as an option.

Thanks for your suggestions, keep 'em coming!

AcidSolitaire Collection is $10, but it's well worth it.

I like Moonlight Mahjong, which is free. But I don't know why they call these games mahjong; it's just solitaire with mahjong tiles. Why don't they call solitaire with cards poker or blackjack?
