Long time heavy iPad user and never had a screen protector- but ready to go the matte route I think. Which one do you use, @sracer?
The number of options seem to be dwindling with each release of an iPad. Tempered glass seems to be all the rage these days. Because of that, my favorite companies no longer produce them and so I use whatever is inexpensively available on Amazon... all have been excellent. I put a matte protector on every device that I own that has a screen (most recently, my 2017 MBA... *chef's kiss* )

If you are looking for something that is generally recognized as being of higher quality, the PaperLike screen protectors are good. They're expensive though. I was able to compare them against the cheap ones on Amazon and I didn't see a quality difference that warranted the price difference... but that's me.

Thank you @augustya and sracer!

Here is probably the main reason I’ve never even tried putting one on despite being tempted various times...if I don’t end up liking it, is removing it going to leave residue or take of the Pro’s AR coating? Or is that just an issue with the cheap ones? I suppose if I end up really liking it, this isn’t really an issue as I would just leave it on permanently.

Are reflections made worse for you two with the current screen protectors you use?

This.

For the long term, I highly recommend applying a matte screen protector. (the regulars here are probably tired of seeing me recommend this again 😆 ) Not only does it do a better job of cutting down on glare, it greatly reduces fingerprint smudges, and provides a more even resistance when using the Apple Pencil... and surprisingly, offers LESS resistance when using a fingertip.

without a matte protector, I've found that the resistance on the screen varies slightly when the Pencil runs through a fingerprint vs a clean part of the screen.
I don’t use the Apple Pencil with my 1G iPad Pro, but if I did, I would definitely give Paperlike a try (or a cheaper matte protector). The fingerprints, etc. on my tempered glass screen protector are almost enough to make me switch as it is.

Which company makes the recommended PaperLike matte screen protector? On Amazon there are so many companies that make products called Paperlike/PaperLike. I see Bersem, Xiron, Mobdik, Arxon USA, Mainten ... I'm sure there's more.

I've removed screen protectors from multiple devices, including my iPads, and never had an issue with residue or screen damage.

I do not have any experience with what the screen looks like once you remove the screen protector from the iPad Pro screen as this would be even my first time. But I am told it does not. Yes with the tempered glass screen protector Reflection is a bit of problem. But for me the ease and convenience of use with a tempered glass installed, this single point far more weighs for me than a single point of reflection which is not such a big issue for me.

May I ask which one you got? I’ve never installed a screen protector on the 7 or so iPads I’ve owned, but having an Ipp11pro for the past year, I completely agree with you on how horrible the smudges are to remove. I use a pencil, so it would also be nice to not worry about having the screen perfectly clean to avoid scratches either. I don’t really need a paperlike that wear out the tip faster, as I like the feel of the pencil on the smooth glass just fine.
Paperlike doesn’t wear the tips out any quicker than naked screen in my experience. Just for FYI.

Hi N,

I hit the same problem when I was looking a month back:

1. Paperlike 2 was Not for sale on amazon (?! That’s got to be a 1st item not avail in my experience on amazon!)

2. The only way to buy it from the UK was to order direct from the USA, or where ever it was.

Am I missing something ordering from the UK?!

Regards
Martin

Comes from Germany I believe. Amazon isn’t the only shopping experience available.

Thanks CupCakes :)

I’ve come across loads of dross companies and sellers online in the past, so a bit wary for spending £30 plus anywhere without a good returns zero tolerance for dodgy selling.

the website you supplies looks good, thanks :)

I’ll go there when I get onto drawing on the ipad etc. :)

Yup this one is the real deal.

I wouldn’t even wait until you get into drawing. I can honestly say that buying this matte protector has elevated the user experience of the iPad more than anything else I have bought for mine.

It just feels like how it should feel.
