If Apple had provided a way to organize PDFs, ebooks, and other data files with some kind of database, I would love that, and I think it would satisfy most people asking for a file system. However, Apple has provided nothing. No file system, database, nothing.

As for Good Reader, I never really used the iPhone version, but I'm sure the iPad version is easier to use simply due to more screen space. It's hard to tell wether or not it'll work for you, since I don't know exactly what you found clunky about the iPhone version, but it's only 99 cents, and I think it's definitely worth a try.

In theory I like the idea of using libraries/databases instead of a file system a lot. I want my computer to help me organise my data and not have to rely on a simple, fixed hierarchy of folders. However it does sound like the iPad implementation is currently pretty half-baked. Until you can easily pass items between the libraries of Apps I don't think people are going to be satisfied.

No affiliation with either app or company but apparently Air Sharing HD (which is more $ of course) may be slightly better than GR when it comes to file handling in and out of apps...

I think I'm sitting at 1500 PDFs on the ipad.

If a person wouldn't want them categorized into folders... Well, have fun finding what you need.

Some are kids reading books, some are worksheets, some are my DDs CAP leadership and aerospace books, some happy to be a PDF & word copy of every cap form, and finally some are all the regs.

All with stupid names I wasn't redoing.

Folders are good.

Happy you don't need them!
How did you manage to get the 1500 files on there? Is there a quick way to get files on without adding one file at a time?

Good Reader is great, Air Sharing HD is even better.

I like Air Sharing's layout better, more resembles a finder interface. Also lets you print and open documents in other apps.

It's the only way for me to log into blackboard and download PDFs for grad school. Safari won't cut it.

I just figured this out and wow it is the best thing ever, I added my classes as a WebDAV server and it is so much easier to access resources. Now all I need is a print app where I can print 3 PowerPoint slides to a page.

Then I could wake up in the morning and wirelessly print any resources I need for the day using goodreader, it is an amazing app for .99 cents.

Put them in a zip file, put them on drop box or something similar. Once zip is on good reader you can unzip and it creates a folder with all the contents of the zip file in it.

The iTunes file transfer..... works well, faster than using wifi for sure!

On the Applications Tab, scroll down to see what Apps you have that support file transfer.
