Too late. If it was going to happen, it would have happened at 11:00 eastern.

Nooo :(

waiting since january, it is so painful,
every tuesday passing by without a new mini

seems like the belgian website was wrong, no mini at the end of february.

Maybe Apple is doing a march event with the new mini/apple tv and displays :)

Might be in April but probably more like June.

This is getting ridicules. I decided to call it a day for now and ordered this. Should keep me busy until the new mini arrives... if it ever does...

let's hope that the new mac mini have the ability to insert a 2.5" ssd .

If Apple goes the "SMALLER SMALLER SMALLER" way, it will look like the NUC or AppleTV.
Which means PCIe SSD and soldered RAM and maybe even MacbookAir CPU :(

if not, your pretty much screwed,
like me, I have a 250gb plextor ssd waiting for the new mini since it was on sale last christmas.

What the hell Apple

Why is apple taking so damn long to release a new mac mini with updated specs? I love the mac mini. Apple updated every other mac. Not right Apple!

I'm starting to lose faith a refresh is coming soon. I know there was something about a possible March event for a new apple TV but no other fresh rumors. I'm thinking currently I'll wait until March and that's about it before I grab one, so I'm sure it will launch in April lol.

You can always buy a external USB3 enclosure and use that way. That's what I been doing for a boot drive until the new mini is out.

If it's PCIe only then I will just use an external enclosure or put it in my MBP.

If the mini will have an MBA cpu it's bye bye mini for me and I will probably go for the iMac and use my mini's display as a second screen to that.

I'm out. Tired of waiting. Gonna order the current gen with ssd.

I did back in late December.

At that time I knew it was not coming out for a LONG time, and the current model is going to be sufficient for users and Apple through September. Waiters will be lucky if it comes out in June or July or August. Expect October.

I have had a 2011 2.3Ghz dual core i5 Mini for the last two years. I wanted a quad core i7 Mini. I didn't want to wait for whatever possible negative changes (change in form factor or loss of upgradeability) that could happen with a future Mini update release. I decided on the 2012 2.3Ghz i7 model at the end of last year and added 16GB Kingston HyperX RAM. I upgraded from ML to Mavericks. It is absolutely fantastic. No regrets. I might add a 500GB or 1TB SSD as the prices drop during the next few years.

What day in March is the next apple event that the new mini could be announced?

So is the consensus that if it's not March it would be this Fall 2014.

Are there any yearly conferences other than WWDC in which Apple announces new items? I've heard that the mini is not considered a developer machine so I'm unsure WWDC would be the place to announce a refresh.

Given the supposed Intel's processor roadmap and the MacMini as the least purchased model in the entire Mac lineup, I unfortunately wouldn't expect anything to be in anyone's hands until December/early 2015. Until then, I think Apple is going to focus on the lines they sell the most of, and that's the MacBook lines. Using that logic, the MacBook Air takes redesign and production priorities before October.

I think people are forgetting the current MacMini is still one of the most powerful compact desktop machines out there. Aside from the graphics, it's an amazing little powerhouse.

I gave up on a refresh and bought a 13" retina MacBook Pro, and my ultimate maxed out Late 2012 MacMini is serving that wonderfully. Unless the new redesigned MacMini gets a dGPU and can power one 4k display at 60mhz minimum, I'm not an interested buyer in a minor spec bump. Maybe a redesigned MacMini will allow Apple to lean on Intel via AMD, but I'm not getting my hopes up that we'll see anything this year.

amazon usa mini is a top seller

http://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-...-Desktop/zgbs/pc/565098/ref=zg_bs_nav_pc_1_pc

runs from #1 to # 10 all the time.

the MacMini as the least purchased model in the entire Mac lineup,

These two statements seem to be at odds with each other….. one is comes from Amazon's sales, I presume. Where the other comes from, who knows?

Anyway, I continue to find all this geeky angst a bit of a giggle. Why does when an updated Mac Mini appears matter so much?

My present Mini (daly 2009) replaced my previous (the original 2005 base model) the day after the HDD went down and repair didn't seem worthwhile. It works just fine for me, and at this stage repair would still be favourite if something went wrong.

I don't yet have a Mac. The mini will be my first and I don't want to buy the current model and see the refresh released the next week. This is why I am keeping tabs on the refresh.

Also, even casual gamers will appreciate the update in integrated graphics that HD5000 brings.

I am still upset it was not yesterday! what can I do? I want the new mini. No reason, I just want it. PCI! SSD!

Luckily, in the meantime, my late 2012 mini is running like a top. A fast top. That also runs Windows. Awesome!

THIS. It would be unwise spending the exact same cash on nearly two year old technology when newer technology is "due." I am holding out because I need a Mac to run ProTools, and I only want to buy once and not regret it. According to all the Apple fans I'm making the right choice by going this route, but I'm not stupid. I work hard for my money... I'm not going to waste it on old tech and then watch new tech come out and my purchase immediately depreciate in value, and sit wishing i'd waited to get better features for the same money. But, we're expected to sit quietly while apple plays their game, and that's getting hard to do when I would like to be able to start working. The mini is in my price range and has the desired configuration (read: non-AIO) or I'd have purchased one of the other recently released products.

So yeah, It DOES matter to some of us.

This totally happened to me with the airport extreme. For the longest time I wanted one. But I was on a contracting job for almost a year and moving around a lot. When I finally done and settled I went and bought the airport extreme, and what do you know. Apple released the new airport extreme (the tall one) about 20 days after my purchase.

So, I'm going to hold out this time and see what they do. I don't disagree with some people here that the current Mac Mini will work well. But It's almost a year and half old and I don't want to spend the same money buying old technology.

I don't see why the giggle. Same argument can work for almost anything else. Especially with auto makers. Oh WOW, the "NEW 20xx car, we have changed the car body line by 0.5 degree in the front and we made the car 1 inch longer while adding 5 horse power." Some people dig that kind of stuff. I have a friend, who waited 6 months for some silver gray color. I would call him crazy, but who am to judge what other people are excited about?
