What will be the next big thing for iPhone? Here are my guesses. Tim Cook you can thank me later for the last two LOL.

1) 5G
2) On-screen Touch ID (Wouldn’t that be going backwards?)
3) Folding iphone (Samsung’s version is so ugly!!!! Apple would design a more attractive version)
4) Drone iPhone (phone that can be used as a drone to record video or take photos from the sky)
5) Self-charging iPhone (phone has a special battery that requires a charge once or twice a year with normal use)

What do you think will be the next big thing that makes Apple phones make a giant leap forward?

Somehow finding a way to remove the notch and have the first truly all screen phone. No idea how as you’d have to somehow hide stuff under the actual display but I have no doubt it’ll happen at some point.

The design which they kept until last year was 4 years old, so I don't think that they will change this design for the next three years, at that point they will merge the design with the iPad Pro. Same style, just smaller, no notch.

Regarding the features, we will get them slowly, but what I can guess is:
- 5g, ofc
- better compatibility with VR and AR, especially combined with the glasses
- better compatibility with Siri and the overall voice assistant game
- over air charging, but I doubt until 2021, until then they will stick with wireless charging
- I doubt that there will be a foldable phone from Apple

What I see from Apple is that they will continue working on the community, because as of now the problem is not selling the phones, the problem is keeping the people within the eco system, this is why they are redesigning all their stores and focusing on the community more then ever.

No more notch.
Bring back touch id (probably won’t happen)

Smartphones are pretty stagnant at the moment so it’s hard to predict what will come next.
Foldable screens seem pretty gimmicky

I’ve not seen Samsung’s version? How did you get to see it?
[doublepost=1544356141][/doublepost]Next big thing for the the iPhone is AR I think.

I'd settle for…

1) Being able to place icons anywhere on my screen that I want.
2) Being able to make a call from the lockscreen without having to open the phone and access the Phone app.
3) Being able to compose a text message from the lockscreen without having to open the phone and access the Messages app (not quick reply).
4) A true darkmode, systemwide. Not smart invert.
5) Being able to add or remove items from my iPhone without having to use iTunes.

Of course, I already have all that stuff because my iPhone has been jailbroken for the last three plus years - but it'd be nice if Apple got with it on their own.

Ahem...Siri.

??
Not everyone uses SIRI. Or even wants it.

As far as the ?? on iTunes, I'm talking about being able to plug the device in via USB and having it mount. Then being able to move movies, music, ringtones, podcasts, pics and PDFs (for books) back and forth.

Windows allows a limited ability to do that already - with photos I believe.

Until technology advances we are only going to see incremental advances in our phones. Batteries will remain the same. Screen tech could change but not for the next few years. I am better that our 2018 phones will look very similar to our 2019 and 2020 phones.

With less phones selling, they could be less R&D money to make changes.

Apple needs to rethink its 5G plans and needs to have it up and running next year along with the other phone makers.

[doublepost=1544366544][/doublepost]I would like to see a back button on the Bottom right and being able to turn location on and off from the drop down screen

I agree about the potential of well-executed AR to hold value. But know what’s so completely ironic? Apple’s placing value on creating an AR world integrating into “real life” by simulating real life using an interface that was stupidly made unintuitively flat and as unreflective of “real life” elements as possible in 2013 for no good reason other than ego and the thought that change for the sake of change had high value.

I would love to see:

* Dark mode
* Smaller Notch
* Not having to use iTunes to sync ringtones, music or photos.
* Rose Gold color back.
* 128GB base storage.
* Better Face ID.

That’s all I have so far.

That sounds like another s model. Highly doubtful consumers will shell out more than a grand to upgrade for those features.

Maybe get rid of Face ID, remove notch and install ultrasonic Touch ID. Faceid is one of the reason iPhone got so expensive. Well, even better yet, add both authentications to the new model and I’ll bite. Would love to use dual authentication for my passwords.

Thoughts on navigating your smartphone with your eyes? Meaning, not having to touch the screen?

Obviously this would only work whilst one is stationary.

I honestly don’t mind paying 1K for another iPhone and I’m sure I’m not the only one, since many consumers have upgraded to the XS and XS Max this year. I have a X so the price tag don’t bother me. I hope Apple don’t go back to Touch ID, because that would definitely keep me from upgrading next year. I love Face ID more. The notch don’t bother me, but a smaller notch would also be nice.

A14 boinic chip "13" unlucky number.

Notch gone.

Tripple camera.

3d touch gone.

I think 5g won't be until 2020. I think Samsung and the Chinese makers will have it first late 2019.

Some type of VR, where the person will take a bunch of pictures of themselves from all angles, then the phone will compile those pictures into a virtual 3d cartoon image with realistic face, where you can call the other person with VR and the two will be in a virtual room talking to each other.

Possible battery improvements.

It always turns into a “wish list” post.

I do not think the 2019 or 2020 iPhones will be so different that what we have today.

Apple needs to step up and get 5G on next years model instead of being last.

The rest the stuff will just be incremental.

I think one of the biggest problems facing Apple and the other phone makers is battery life. Weather it be at the office, or the airports people are always struggling to find an outlet to charge their phones. I would rather have a new battery technology that lasts twice as long than 5G. Since the carriers are always congested in densly populated cities and events, one most wonder how much benefit 5G will give in real world situations.
