For me it’s because of the 120hz display. I cant go back to anything without it now. It looks so bad when i have low power mode on my 14 pro and it goes back to 60.

Also why I got a MacBook Pro instead of air. I would much prefer the slimmer more lightweight design but until it gets 120hz I’m not interested.

I’m glad I don’t really notice the difference in refresh rate. My personal phone (13PM) has it and the company phone (11) I have does not. I go between the two devices and thankfully it’s not an issue for me.

My iPad Air 4 doesn’t have 120hz either and for me unless I am directly comparing it to an iPad with a higher refresh rate, it’s something that most won’t even think about. If it was important I think it would be in every device by now, or Apple is struggling to differentiate on their models so holds things back to just a higher price and the word ‘Pro’ in its name.

Hi there,

It's understandable to be curious about the differences between the various iPad models, including the iPad Pro. While it's true that many people use iPads for browsing, social media, drawing, coloring, reading, and streaming shows, the iPad Pro is designed with certain features and capabilities that may appeal to specific users.

For example, the iPad Pro offers more powerful hardware and advanced features like a ProMotion display, which provides smoother scrolling and reduced lag when using the Apple Pencil for drawing and note-taking. It also has a faster processor and more storage options than other iPad models, which can be beneficial for power users who need to run multiple apps or work with large files.

Additionally, the iPad Pro is compatible with certain accessories like the Magic Keyboard and the Apple Pencil 2, which can enhance productivity and creativity. The Magic Keyboard allows for easier typing and transforms the iPad Pro into a more laptop-like experience, while the Apple Pencil 2 has advanced features like double-tap gesture controls and magnetic attachment for easy charging.

Overall, the iPad Pro may be a better fit for power users who require advanced features and capabilities for their work or creative pursuits. For more casual users, other iPad models like the iPad Air or iPad Mini may be sufficient for their needs.

I think originally Apple release iPad Pro for 12.9. But they added 11” version to complete their product line. TBh, there is nothing specific for pro usage in 11” version. It’s just a better iPad for everyone, not a must have feature for Pro users. This is not the case for 12.9 version.

Apple released the 9.7” & 12.9” Pros, then the 10.5” & 12.9” Pros, and finally the 11” and 12.9” Pros we have today.

I knew that. What I mean, the original intention during product development is introducing iPad Pro for the bigger screen size, which will be very helpful for “pro” artist or some professionals that needs to look details in big screen.

There is nothing pro about the iPad Pro’s except the price… the latest CPU that iOS cant fully use, promotion and 4 speakers are not ‘pro’ things.
They force you buying the Pro version if you need bigger storage and 16GB RAM, and for this option you need to get the 1-2TB storage version.

The main usage for iPad was and still is a media consumption and reading device up to basic daily usage… sure you can do more then that, special if you using the pencil, but its very limited.

Thunderbolt/USB4, faster Wifi6E, faster single core and 2 extra GPU cores, Video encode/decode hardware, better mmWave 5G, and a couple fo extra things. The Thunderbolt, GPU cores, and M2 media engine are great when editing video. Many pros also use the iPad for doing some photo processing, even if they finish editing on their computers, and the USB4 helps them with their XQD/CF readers, or connected via USB-C. Whether not you personally find them useful, the Pros are more than ProMotion and speakers.

One additional think I noticed is that the slightly higher res 11" Pro screen was enough to display extra photo thumbnails in Lightroom at the same serttings, which is nice.

Agree - LumaFusion & Lightroom are great on my M1 12.9. Saying the main usage for an iPad as just a media consumption and reading device up to basic daily usage is flat wrong for me.

Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer are also great on mine.

If someone thinks an iPad Pro is only good for is consumtion, that says more about them than it does the iPad.

Exactly. "Only good for consumption" likely does apply to some users but it is not a universal truth. When people make these kinds of comments, they need to add "for me".

Hell, some people use their Macs for only consumption too. What’s funny about the “only good for consumption” people is that they know iPads are great for creative tasks but they never mention it.

I've recently been on holiday and used a lot more of my iPad Pro.
I was mortified to see my 2 year old repeatedly touching the screen with food covered fingers at the breakfast table when playing some children shows on Netflix to keep him occupied!

I'm loving the extra storage space on the iPad. (Not really a 'Pro' feature) however when I decided to get a larger storage iPad I initially looked at the Mini and Air but it wasn't too much more for a Pro so here we are.

One thing I did notice was when we arrived home and I went through my photos from the holiday. I edited them in Pixelmator with the Apple Pencil and the Pro handled it like it was nothing. I'd previously do this on my Macbook Air and about half an hour into the process the Mac would be warm and would sound like it was about to take flight! Very impressive.

I definitely need to work on my editing abilities for photos.
