My X’s battery health is now at 98% while my 8+ is still 100%. Weird

It says “lower capacity may result in fewer hours of usage between charges”. So does this mean, running down your battery below 20% before charging it?

theres another thread right on this page for the exact same thing, and as to your question, reread the line in quotes and comprehend it. thats not what it says at all.

No. It means a battery st 100% would last 8 hours between charges. A battery at 59% would last 4 hours between charges.

*made up numbers but hopefully you get the idea.

No, deep discharges are harmful to your battery.

103%!...?

I changed my iPhone 6S Plus battery myself (Amazon kit £20 - cheaper and less hassle than going to an Apple store) and the new battery health 'thingy' says it is unable to determine the battery health......

Battery Life app says it's 100% design capacity though (i replaced the battery only a month or so ago)

I'm at 94% on an iPhone 7. Fortunately wasn't affected by the battery throttling update. I don't even have the option to disable Performance Management.

Battery life app is not accurate.

No one does until their phone has an unexpected shutdown. Even an iPhone 6 with 70% capacity doesn't have that option right after updating. Once it shuts down unexpectedly one time the option will appear.

Battery life doesn't have system access. It's just a guess.

The battery has a fuel gauge chip at the bottom of the pack. Non-Apple batteries use different chips.

X recharged maybe less that 6-7times (obviously 100%) because its new
I mainly use the 6S plus as my daily driver (i really hate the x)
6S plus (more than 2.5 years old guess had it since a few weeks after lunch if i remember corectly) 83 percent / peak performance enabled

The phone has low voltage protection to prevent deep discharge. It doesn't shut off at low battery because the battery is completely empty. It shuts off because of software intervention.

The more shallow the discharge, the more cycles available to the battery. There’s an inverse relationship between the two.

The software protection is available as a backstop but it certainly shouldn’t be relied upon if you want to maximize battery health. It’s there to avoid irreversible damage to the battery, not maximize available cycles.
