Just drained mine and am re-charging it now... seems the capacity went up a bit... Still not great, but...

Appleguru, did a full discharge/charge help? or did you calibrate it? And also, how do you reset the SMC (and what does resetting it do)

Mine isn't very good at all. I've re-calibrated a few times, but nothing's changed. Any help?

mine is definitely about 10 minutes. ever since the dc in board had to be replaced it just decided to... not be good. its a powerbook, but ehh, just beware of that corner of your mbp.

Are my settings wrong? I have a new MBP C2D I received in November. All the postings here have shown ~5500mAh battery status. Mine is currently showing charging 6339mAh with a max of 6550mAh. The battery shows current capacity at 6500mAh and Original battery capacity of 5500mAh. 22 Load Cycles in 3 months.

What is a load-cycle ?
...A full battery charge?

Should I avoid plugging my notebook in until it's low battery?
I use it during class, get home it's about 1/4-1/2 done... Then I plug it in, bad?

for those of you confused, if you have a macbook pro 17", your "original capacity" is not 5500, it's about 6500

Apple just replaced my battery because my original died...

2 Cycles
Original Capacity: 5500 mAh
Current Capacity: 4500 mAh

WTF! time to call apple AGAIN.

These specs are worse than the one that died. At least that one was at 92% health, not 83%!

could it be caused by your computer? do you calibrate it?

Nothing too surprising here:

This being my first laptop though, I am surprised at how quickly these things degrade. Only good for about a year or so I would imagine?

I was actually thinking about the same question at lunch. I mainly use the laptop at home and keep it plugged in all the time. When I go to work I take it with me but most of the time it is in sleep mode.

So, Will it hurt or is it bad to keep it plugged in say 12 hours out of a day. The other part of that is in only drains a little when unplugged and usually takes no more than 15 - 30 minutes to charge.

If the battery drops to 80% is it best to let it drain all the way before plugging it back in? You can compare it to keeping a gas tank topped of, or running it out and getting fresh gas. Which one is best, do these new batteries (macbook pro c2d) act like the older style that have a memory?

wondering this too, hopefully getting a MBP soon :)

What is a load cycle?

Would keeping it plugged in the majority of the time have a good or bad effect on the battery?

Mine is very very very good. I have two batteries but this one has had quite a few cycles.
