Just updated to iOS 15 beta last night.. Hard to see any changes lol. Just wondering what are you all’s favorite new features

Focus modes are awesome. I love having different home screens for work or personal and it automatically switches between them based on time and location.
Yeah, I’m looking forward to using that. Currently setting up my “work” focus.

Focus Modes and the new Safari have been my favorites so far. I also think Live Text is pretty incredible, though I don’t have very many uses for it to be honest.

Live Text.

On iPhone its a pretty minor update. On iPad I feel its a downgrade because of how it destroys the app spacing and I feel the Today View was more useful than the widget grid.

Live Text, Weather app and bringing the magnifying loop for selecting text are my favorite features of iOS 15.

I have no need for focus mode or want to take the time to set it up.

The notification summary doesn't seem well thought out in my opinion. Doesn't show enough and just expands to single notifications. I think they could've done better.

The 2 x 4 Calendar widget! The iOS 14 version that showed the calendar on half was useless. All the event names were constantly cut off.

So far live text is pretty amazing. Still kinda confused on focus. Going to dive in more on getting that set up

The weather app. I've been hunting for the perfect weather app for years after Wunderground screwed me over by implementing a subscription after I had paid for premium features.
When I open the Weather app I can't even see an hourly forecast for tomorrow! It's still the most basic weather app I use. Am I missing something? My favourite weather app is YR from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute. It gives me an hourly forecast for the next two days, and a less granular forecast for the following six days. I cycle and planning when I will cycle over the next few days requires more detail than what the Apple weather app gives me for the week ahead.

While nice I don’t really see the benefit, I don’t work on my Home Screen and any app can open from search in no time anyway. Does it come down to different work related widgets for you?

I honestly think that iOS 15 is one of the greatest upgrade for power users.

for examples, thanks to focus I managed to make my iPhone automatically goes into theater mode if I’m in the range of my favorite theater and I’m gonna watch a movie in the next 30 minutes (Added to my agenda)

i did this with a combo of focus and shortcuts and it works.

watching my phone magically goes into silence mode / dark mode / energy save mode / with my watch going into theater mode and changing my watch face without having to do anything is just incredible.

not to mention the custom home page configuration who allows to have the widgets / apps needed depending on the focus mode.

i really love it and was waiting for something like that for years!

with focus we finally have the possibility to activate shortcuts depending on location fully automatics.

also, I really love the new widgets. The maps widget and find my widgets are really greats.

i also love the separation alert with the find my, and the new transits interface on maps are much more useful than before.

iOS 15 is a lot of little things. But really great things for me.

It’s a DND with some additional options, but I’m not convinced I can find true usefulness in this vs the time it takes to set it up for each mode.

that’s why I mentioned it’s a great feature for power users. I can understand that this is not for everyone and a lot of people will just use dnd as before.
but personally I really love it.

DND Focus is very useful in that it will auto-trigger by location. I used to use a shortcut automation to silence my phone when I arrived at work, but all it did was put a button on the screen which I had to press to agree. I was frustrated after using Android where I could do what I wanted to. Now it looks like DND will trigger when I arrive at work and switch off when I leave - with no user intervention. Perfect.

IMO that is too broad a statement. Power User covers a wide base and this feature is of use to some but not to others. For me, it is too limiting.
