Let us get serious and talk from Apple's perspective.

What's the max you'd spend on a 128 GB foldable iPhone?

(in USD, excluding taxes, only for the base model, bare iPhone)

Less than 1500

1500-1999

2000-2999

>3000

Do note, for UK, USD 1500 is actually 1500 pounds. For EU it's probably 1800 euros. And so on.

1500 and under.
Would make me get rid of my iPad mini.
IF they can keep this around 8mm thick folded id buy it in a heartbeat

Unless it’s improving my life somehow, I’ll not buy it just because it’s foldable. And if it does improve my life significantly then I will buy whatever the price is.

So you’re willing to pay upwards of 3K for the base model excluding taxes plus AC+ etc?

Yep no problems at all. I look at it like this, if it improves my life then I’ll include it in my life. Thankfully I’m not in a situation where I need to think twice about buying things if I need / want them.

That Samsung prototype is so far from being a reality in mass consumer market at present that I won’t lose my sleep over seeing one around any time soon though. That reminded me of the Nokia concept video that came out years back.

I don’t think a foldable iPhone will be here anytime soon, but if it meets my expectations and really appeals to me in terms of how it could benefit my daily usage in terms of practicality, I would pay a premium to have it. But again, that all depends what it has to offer.

If it does improve my life to that extent then I will. Value for money is different to different people. I understand you’re creating an unrealistic situation to emphasise the point but generally speaking I don’t think any consumer tech will ever be so expensive that I wouldn’t be able to buy them if I wanted to.

Exactly 0,00€.
Why should I buy a big fat phone which unfolds into a much to small tablet with a dumb aspect ratio?
Oh, and I'm pretty sure, sooner or later you will have a nice bulge in the middle of your display.

If Apple were to come out with a foldable iPhone and not a regular iPhone that is 5.8, 6.1 or 6.5 inch screen size, I would not be upgrading that year. I would keep whatever iPhone I have and start looking elsewhere for a phone if Apple make a foldable iPhone the only new phone.

Foldable phones are a gimmick that will pass pretty quickly. Zero interest.

Well, nope.

You’ll soon have the phone the size of the SE with the thickness of the 4s that once opened will have the display of the iPad Mini but bezeless so much smaller with the weight of current flagships.

$0.

Because I require at least 256GB.

Of course, YMMV.

Just add $100 to all above options and choose the correct tier then.

So Less than 1600 is your cheapest choice.

There's no way, I'm paying 1,500 or more for any phone. I think the current prices are too high as it is.

It won’t be less than that. That too assuming Apple decides to reduce their margins and squeeze their suppliers. If they keep going strong like now it would start over 2500.

That probably won’t happen for a while. They will probably retain current sizes at similar prices to now.

Just read it like this:

What’s the max you’re willing for a revolutionary iPhone? Are you willing to go well above 1500?

There's a point where people will refuse to accept price hikes. I may be in the minority but I'm willing to spend that much on a phone. Apple has been raising it prices on all of its products, at some point consumers will say enough is enough. For me that point is now.

For me too. It’s hard for me to spend INR 1L on a phone. Which itself is pretty tough actually. That buys me the 64 GB XS for approx USD 1382 in India.

But the thing is Apple has lost touch with reality. And they won’t back off until sales fall off like a rock. They will need to test an iPhone at such a price point to be sure the sales actually fall by over 70%.

You have to be kidding with this poll.
I think the real poll should be, How many years after someone releases a foldable device will Apple adopt it.
5 years, 7 years, etc?
