With rumors that iPhone 15 Pro Max will replace the stainless steel frame with a titanium frame.

The only Titanium apple product that I have is Apple Watch Ultra. Despite the fact that it's its the most premium apple watch. When I compare this Ultra model with Apple watch stainless steel golden, it looks dull, it lacks the premium look, feel and stylish that we see in golden stainless steel variant.

So in nutshell if you are wearing a golden stainless steel apple watch in some function, party it will come to everyone's attention. However if you wear an Ultra Model, despite having titanium finish it will look like an ordinary apple watch to most of the non tech people.

I love the shiny stainless steel frame in current iPhone Pro max series, but if apple replaces it with Titanium frame, will it look dull like Apple Watch Ultra series? What's your opinion on Titanium frame? Unless apple launches an ultra model for iPhone series, we don't have a choice to select Stainless steel or Titanium.
I don’t choose my Apple devices based on what people at parties may think of them.

I have a 14 Pro Max. The weight and size of the device don’t bother me at all. I actually prefer the stainless steel sides. They feel and look premium to me. I also have a Apple Watch Ultra and don’t care for the Titanium casing. I only purchased the Ultra for the battery life and durability of the case and screen. I change my bands frequently to forgot about the titanium casing. If Apple released a stainless steel version of the Ultra alongside the Titanium version, I would’ve opted for the stainless steel finish.

l have some experience with titanium in a sports environment. They can leave it plain or add a nice finish to it but it scratches easy.

Here is the other thing nobody mentions, not only can it scratch but impacts against things like concrete can take decent sized chunks out of it. This is much more
noticeable than the dents and will drive those with OCD totally up the wall. I’m really itching to see how all that plays out with people who want their iPhone to stay totally perfect in ownership.

Be careful what you wish for…

I love the look of titanium (I had a number of titanium watches, and currently an Epix 2 with a titanium band). Plus, it’s lighter, and currently iPhone Pros could use some weight loss.

And unlike you, I just don’t care at all what other people think of my stuff. I have to like it, and that’s it, and I never buy something to draw attention to myself.

As long as Apple makes the 15 Pro easier to hold in hand, which is the main reason I avoided upgrading from my 11 Pro - I hate this sharp edge stuff, and the 14 Pro looks particularly gaudy on top - I’m all for it.

Bring the dull shine, I say, and make it a bit rounder.

The titanium isn't for luxury or premium OP - its weight vs strength for use in the field.

The most premium Apple Watch is the Hermes edition NOT the Ultra.

Personally don't see the point of a titanium frame, it'll make little real-world difference in reality and is probably more "because we can" and leveraging even higher price points.

I didn't know that.

I didn't some research and found out that Most of the extra money is in the leather strap. The strap is handmade by Hermes in their own tanneries in France. They are not outsourcing them to some Chinese factory.

I prefer metallic strap over leather. If I have that much extra cash I would buy a premium titanium strap, which will cost far less that that leather strap and will be more durable

I’d welcome a titanium frame over SS, especially when it comes to finger prints on the SS — if you don’t use a case. I’m sure the weight savings will be minimum since the battery will be bigger for the 15 Pro.

Thanks for the insight into titanium!

Yeah I remember I dropped my current 13 Pro Max from chest height to sidewalk concrete (no case). I only got the smallest gauge/some scratches. It blew my mind that day how well it took that drop.

If Titanium is what you are saying, im going to be pretty disappointed. Especially with scratches. Maybe I'll go with silver color this year if that shows the least amount of scratches (although Id love to get the rumored blue though)

The extra money is in the actual luxury branding that is Hermes and their heritage, not their leather. They are one of the final luxury fashion houses that aren't being operated under the guise of another brand (i.e., LVMH and their b@s5t@rd15@t10n of what were once luxury brands)

I just want it to weigh a lot less and have rounded sides (I can’t stand the flat sides).

Agree. I like how it looks, but squared steel is just not comfortable to hold to me - at least not at the sizes of the current phones. The squared design with beveled edges was great on the iPhone 5/5S, but that was a smaller phone with a lighter body. The squared metal of the iPhone 4/4S was also awesome. Again, size made a big difference to me.

If they use a durable and polishable titanium finish and can reduce weight a noticeable amount, I’m for it.

Ugh I wish they had titanium in the 14 pro models. I really will not upgrade this or next year.

I assume titanium will be a good excuse to bump the price by $200 and justify it with the new material.
