Feel sorry for you, that kind of service stinks.
It always makes me wonder if they used an original item, or that they used alie-express or the likes to get a cheaper replacement part.

To be honest, this is why I only buy directly trough apple online and with Apple Care +.
If I aks they'll ship out a new device and I have to return the old one within 2 weeks of receiving the replacement.

Yep, I've always been buying directly from apple for the exact same reason. After sale support has been awesome for me always ever since I've been their customer.

movies

E reader with kindle app
travel computer, pretty much goes everywhere with me

It will never replace my laptop pcs

If most people use the iPads for such basic work then no wonder the sell has stagnated and people are reluctant to upgrade their iPads.

Since the last few years I don't think the iPad has changed enough to warrant an upgrade if one already owns a device that runs the latest iOS.

Good point. I use my Air 2 solely for consumption and have absolutely no need for an upgrade of any kind. I like and prefer my laptop for what I use it for and have no desire to replace it with a tablet.

Exactly why I don't think I'll get an iPad as long as my iPad 4 is still alive and kicking. Even if it doesn't support iOS 11, I can still do whatever it is mostly want to do on it. Plus the usual apple services I like synced between devices via iCloud, already work anyway.
