Because all of WA’s users will then magically start sending sms?
No but at least we can send them images at no cost etc.

I'm not a big fan of apps on my phone as I prefer the minimal amount and what's app is another hassle for me to remember who to message where etc. I'd prefer it all went through the iOS messages app.

You can send people images at no cost for a long time. Have you considered sharing services or email? The ship for regular sms has sailed imo as that chat service is the de facto standard in many areas of the world. I’m not a fan either but it is what it is.

I have the Web App shared to my Home Screen. Works quite well although the icon is FUGLY. Otherwise I can’t imagine many differences between this and an actual App, other than maybe better touchscreen support (I use the Magic Keyboard anyway).

I have the same and it's nothing like a real app, there is no background work, no notifications, you have to have the page open to see any change... If I open after a few days it will take a few minutes to sync everything

Yes that’s a fair point. I use the phone as the notification and then open it on the iPad, and I use it so often that I don’t see the sync. But I see how this wouldn’t work for many people.

That's what I do too. It's better than nothing but definitely worse than an app (on Android you have a full app, that's what allows me to have 2 phones with the same Whatsapp account, without notifications and background sync it would be useless on the second phone). But I prefer the iPad to my Android tablet... So this partial solution is at least usable in order to use a physical keyboard
