OneDrive does the equivalent of a beachball on my i9900K, 64 GB, 4 TB SSD, 2-RTX-2700 GPU equipped Windows 10 system. Lots of places along the pipeline to and from the MS Servers can bottleneck OneDrive.

Sometimes on my intel iMac it would just stop responding and started to eat RAM, max I did see it use on that one was 19 GB (out of 24 GB) before I force quit it. I’ve had the same thing happend on my M1 Mini 16 GB (onedrive through rosetta) and max usage I’ve observed is 16 GB (and it forced the system to a 6 gb swap).
OneDrive is just bad, I only use it because of work.
I recall some tests (from MaxTech on YouTube and Puget Systems) that showed very little improvement in video editing performance in Davinci Resolve and Premiere Pro beyond 32GB RAM or 16-cores.
Video RAM was important though, and high-resolution video (6K, 8K) benefitted from large amounts of VRAM.
I've found a use case that causes some issues for my 16gb mbp, and makes me pleased I went for this over the 8gb.
This is working on a Unity project and using the 'Deep Profiling' option in the profiler tool. Normal workflow and 'regular' profiling is fine, it's just this specific case that really pushes things.
