You'll benefit a lot from Resolution Independence in Leopard. In theory you could run a really high quality resolution(bigger than anything Apple has right now, even the 30" Cinema Display) with real world like quality. I suggest you wait until Leopard and Santa Rosa (mostly Leopard).

Different MBP styling, when?

When do you guys think Apple's going to release a "new-form" MBP, kinda of like iBook > MacBook? Because I have a PB right now, and that's what's holding back my purchase of a MBP until summertime/college.

Umm... if you are talking about a line upgrade, like going from C2D to C4D, it's probably gonna be a few months, we are right in the middle of the current line according to macrumors buyers guide. Now, if you are talking about something like the change from powerbook to macbook pro its going to be quite a while. The change between those two lines was due to upgrading to the intel core, something apple probably isn't gonna get away from for a while.

Resolution independence - run applications at whatever DPI you like... they're scaled on the fly and displayed to the best ability of the display device you have.

Won't manage to make your display any better but might make better use of it, if you can see smaller fonts and the app itself doesn't' provide scaling.

Where else can you go after upgrading to Intel?

Core 4 Duo maybe cause they'll double the number of cores? Continue an even number scheme?

...Powerbook G5?

Core 4 Duo and Core 3 Duo would surely both have 2 cores, much like Core Duo and Core 2 Duo before them? Anyway, there are already quad cores. Just not in laptops.

There will be no 3 cores, only 4 core processors. I think its something to do with how computers need everything to be a multiple of 2 lol. Or maybe it's intels way of jacking up their processor prices by shoving in an extra core.

Also, I do think think that Resolution Independence has something to do with the Display Resolution, not just applications. I heard something about this a while back.

I take it you like the resolution independence by the amount of posts you have on it. lol :p

I have heard somewhere that there are even 8 core Intel chips coming out. So that would be 1, 2, 4, 8! What's next 16 and 32 core processors!?

Argggggggggggh!
I know what Resolution Independence is, it's how a computer screen be measured in units like centimeters or inches. So displays will have real world quality. Trust me, I know this!. Don't mess around with me about this.

i'm just going to wait until the next revision..whenever that is.

Furthermore, Santa Rosa has been delayed a bit, so I assume by the time it finally does come out apple will be ready..hopefully :D
