This entire thread makes me sick, personally. The iPad came out 2 months ago, it has barely had time to even have steady production (sold out everywhere), and people are asking when part 2 comes out.

Jesus Christ. Buy it and enjoy it.

Higher PPI, more memory, 4G, faster processor, forward camera, lighter.... :p

one of those blowtorch lighters?

All iOS products will likely have a 12mo cycle timed with OS updates. The iPhone is Apple's cash cow, so it will have the first priority with June releases. I would expect that the iPad will fit into the iPod release schedule. My Guess is it will be annual starting September 2011.

I'm thinking there is a good chance that they will update in September with the Touch if there are plans to add a camera in both. Otherwise, next year (1 year cycle).

I agree. Hopefully and update in memory and storage in both the touch and the iPad. Then it wouldn't be so overshadowed by the iPhone 4.

My guess is that going into the fall Apple will put on a big show for the OS update for the iPad, plus will roll out at the presentation several killer apps. If they really want to hammer away at the competition during the holidays then there will also be a price break.

So between, OS4, new flashy apps, and a potential price break, they'll have plenty of hype to sell a gazillion iPads for Christmas.

Thus, no need for a new version of the iPad this year.

The iPad really is the killer product for this upcoming holiday season. Unlike an iPhone which requires an expensive wireless contract to be useful, anyone can make use of the iPad, and so plenty of people will be eagerly buying them for spouses, grandmothers, etc. So in particular, to get a price break on the 3G model so that it is sub-$500 going into the holiday season is going to be key to Apple holiday hegemony.
