Will deleting the profile and getting DP 4 have any negative effects in the future though? Such as bricking the phone/requiring UDID registration? I don't want my phone to stop working when I need it the most.
Hard to say one way or another without anyone actually running into that (or not running into it). So far it doesn't seem like it.

I vaguely remembering that Apple lets the DP sit for a bit, maybe a day, before releasing the corresponding PB. Just for the sake of being sure that there's no devastating bugs that will roll out to public testers. And also, that it's 2 DPs for every 1 PB, usually.

I would assume it wouldn't even verify the update if that would be an issue. I would also assume that if you install the profile back on your phone after getting DP 4, your phone will see PB 2 if its a new version than DP 4. (Since the profile looks at PB servers for updates)

I could be way wrong though.

This is the first time for iOS that a DP released without PB (once the PB was available)

We'll see. I installed the PB profile after removing to install the beta 4 update. I don't expect much of anything to happen but its nice that we can bounce back and forth on the updates. Its getting better each time.

I am currently in developer beta track, and I must say I am overall somewhat satisfied after going from beta 1 to beta 4.

I don't have a developer account, and I don't want to register for developer program if I don't want to develop software and send it to App Store.

I feel glad that Apple doesn't do UDID check for such devices, giving users like me a chance to throw pre-release software to the wild, witnessing its progress of going better and better. Umm, occasionally I would think I am just looking at a child growing up, although I don't feed that child. (haha...)

Second public beta is the same as developer beta 4, so no OTA update available if you updated yesterday.

Yep, I think anyone who did the PB 1 to DP 4 yesterday will be able to bounce back to PB 3 when that comes out (probably in two weeks.)

Since they are again same build numbers. So since the DP seed thought our PB 1 was DP 3 and gave us DP 4 when without the profile. Putting the profile back, the PB seed should see it as PB 2 when PB 3 is released and be able to go back to the Public Beta. At least that's my guess based on what it looked like it did yesterday with PB 1 and DP 4.

I love this kind of threads, I've been telling people for years now that it's imposible to know when a beta is coming out, betas are not planed, they come out when they need to, there's not a single pattern in the release history of iOS betas.

Doesn't stop people wanting to anticipate and guess.

I'm pretty sure that almost nobody guessed that the iOS 9 Public Beta was coming out today.
Seems like quite a few guessed that it can be likely to be out in the first half of this week. Certainly quite a few more thought today in particular after the developer beta was released yesterday. It's still all just guessing mostly based on some history (meaning things can and have certainly changed at times). But that's what a fair number of people like to do anyway (whether or not they realize and/or care it's just guessing for the most part).
