I hope, society will return to the phone form factor someday. Phablet is not very useful, indeed: nor desktop, nor phone, nor iPad. And it is very inconvenient to operate with one hand.
I’m currently using my backup iPhone SE 2 since my 14 PM is being repaired. This feels so cramped and unpleasant to use. I used to defend the iPhone mini to death but I guess my taste has changed and my eyesight has gotten bit worse too.

I still think we should bring back small phones as an option. iPhone mini should make a return.

I use iPhone 13 on a daily basis, but recently I took iPhone 4S, and Oh My God, it's a really a phone, not a palmtop computer for alien-hands-based forms of life. For sure, current software is made for large screens, and mostly ugly controls. We can't revert 5-10 years back, when software was shiny and has perfectly UI based on Human Guidelines, not on drug addicted designers ideas. Or can we?

What we need is ePaper type displays so that we don’t get eye problems to begin with. But that’ll never happen.

No we cannot. Things are gonna keep getting worse. Why? Because we have a duopoly and there is no motivation to change the way they do things. And the way they do things has gotten us here, so we kind of have a map that show us we're headed downhill.

The SE series phones are all about being the most inexpensive iPhone. It was about reuse of some older Apple production elements with some current Apple production hardware. It was never about small, notch-less, Touch ID. Those elements only got included since they came from recent Apple hardware “that was still lying around.

The 6.1” screen was obvious since that is the smallest screen from RECENT Apple iPhone.

The only real surprise is the brand new Apple 5G modem for the SE4. Cannot help that it’s a trial run and I find that scary
Maybe they’ll offer a Qualcomm upgrade.

I'm still rocking an SE1. Just got it's original battery replaced today to keep me going until this SE4 launches. The spec's for the 4 sound promising but i'm hoping the price is a LOT lower than the 16's.

I still have the original SE1 as well, but I don't know how you got the battery to last so long. Mine started expanding after about three years, and the resulting pressure on the display made it start texting and calling on its own.

It's about due for its second battery, but it can't run modern apps because it's stuck on iOS 15, so it's best to replace it.

I find the 16 to be a disappointment though, and the 17 looks more like what I would want, but I need an interim phone, so the SE4 looks like a candidate. That's still six months out though, and I'm pressing my luck.

I don't know either, but i'm not a big phone user. Just calls and text mainly. I had it for probably close to 7 years. Towards the end i think i was over charging it and it quickly killed the battery life. Strangely the battery health was stuck on 82% for years. New battery replacement only cost me $55 and it's made a dramatic improvement. Should keep me going for the next 6 months atleast and be a backup phone after i get the 16 or SE4.

🙏 Make the iPhone SE simple with cheap broadly available tech:
  • Under the screen Touch ID
  • Drop the way outdated notch
  • Use single camera lens hole, as everyone else does
  • make it nice full screen 5.5 to 5.8 inch
  • big battery
  • don't rely on old phones cases, Apple has way enough resources to make a new and unique
Wait, this SE would be too attractive compared to the other iPhone range? There you go 😢

They may also simplify the iPhone lineup in 2025 or 2026 and axe 🪓 the iPhone 14 & 15 earlier than usual and have the iPhone SE 4 as the only base model in the entire lineup
Don't see this happening: A lot of big brand retailer have still stock of brand new iPhone 14/15. My guess is that production cost are so low per unit for these they are easier to market as full fledge iPhones.
