Hi all,

Well iam waiting for 2. macbook pro and I was wondering why Apple havent made an official statement ( think it is called statement) about the yellow tint problem. They must know by now that the problem is real. Ive talked with more then 10+ Apple empl. here in Denmark and not one knew about the problem?. Offcouse they have to wait abit before making it officiel but they are loosing customers every day. Bad rumors are killing the Macbook pro pupilarity. From what I have seen here in this forum alot of people have returned there MBP, some more the 5 times.

And why havent any media, magazines etc. made an article about the issue?? ( quote wako)

(sorry my bad english)

No idea, but I wish the media (all those mac magazines) would make an article about the issue. Hopefully then there would be enough public attention for Apple to actually address the issue. I think Apple, or really any company in this type of situation would just hope the problem would pass over.

I doubt they would make a statement until they have fixed the issue. They may not make a statement at all and instead just rely on people returning their laptops to get the problem fixed.

Reason they haven't made an official statement is because if they did, they'd probably have to do a product recall and anyone who has a yellow tint laptop would be entitled to a replacement.

There is people out there who think the yellow tint is meant to be there and don't care.

It's only when you say its not that you notice.

If you are implying that all SR MBPs have the bottom screen yellow tint issue... you would be wrong.

I was surely expecting mine to have it once I had seen how many people did have the problem, but my screen is absolutely perfect. And I was expecting it, looked for it and it is not there.

Not all have the problem.

Considering their track record... never

Hmm.. true, they never do make official statements on flaw unless it is something exploding. However I wish they would address the issue though. When the MacBooks came out and did all that Mooing, atleast they addressed the issue and stopped it.

If they made a press release about it, it will drive customers paranoid as they start to realise...

Seriously, when are they going to address the problem to the public? I am getting my second MBP in two weeks. I hope I could get a prefect machine this time; otherwise, I am going to bug them until I am satisfy. Exchange! Exchange! Exchange!

If it is determined to be an issue, which I assume it will be/has been, then they will address the issue. There are many things that have to happen before you will hear anything about it. First, the # of defect units has to reach some magic # that only Apple knows about. Once it reaches that # then it goes from a normal amount of failures to a known issue. Once it is a known issue, then they have to research the problem to find out what is causing the problem. Is it a bad batch? Is it a bad component? Is it bad assembly? Etc... Once the figure out what was causing the problem, then they will fix it.

This can't be done overnight. For all we know, they have already determined what the problem is and are working on a fix. We also don't know if the failure is something too low to be considered a known issue.

We have to wait and see. What I do know is that it is not a problem on all MBPs. There are many people that don't have the problem and I am one of them. There are also a lot of people that do have the problem.... so I am assuming at some point it will be addressed.

No I'm not - I'm awaiting a replacement that doesn't have the issue.

I was just stating there is probably people out there who don't realise the yellow tint issue and are satisfied with their MBP's with it.

Well just got my 2. MBP and it is much better then my first.

no 1/3 yellow tint
No dead pixels
Still a litte bit yellow if you look from the side but not much

The screen was abit yellow all over first, over but a manual color configuration fixed it.

90% procent perfect I would say.

Dont wanna exchange it again, got work to do.

Still I feel a little bit worried and confused ( pist off) that apple is silent

You had a crappy screen and Apple replaced the system. Yes, what I believe to be a minority if purchasers have had issues, but it's not like Apple is refusing to assist in these cases.

Anyway, glad your new one is OK - sounds better than 90% to me!

Given that this problem isn't being reported much on sites (e.g. Macintouch) that are good at flagging problems (both great and small), I think this issue is being overstated.

Mine gives a slight green tint if you look at the screen from say 45o angle like sitting next to someone but from dead on its fine. Is this is problem?

Yet another disappointed user. I think they definitely should. The LED displays are basically broken. While being clearer and brighter, there is a major issue with the tinting in its various forms. Even on the ones without the bottom 1/3 yellow, the side view is uniformly sickly yellow.

Wrong, it has always been the case. My old C2D MacBook Pro with a 9C60 screen has *gasp* the same colour distortion off centre!

I don't believe the old C2D had large volumes of people complaining about yellowing screen from angles, yes there were grain issues which was a common complaint but not yellowing....so this may have been on your old C2D but not for the majority, the yellowing is not normal and is not a design feature, I don't remember apple saying "the new LED backlit sreen sports a yellowed viewing angle to improve brightness!"

Definitely not. Being someone who suffers from it, I took my MBP back to the place I bought it and they had a display model which was perfect (LG Screen). You could obviously notice the difference between the 2 - mine had a yellow gloom where white should be and the other was pure white.

This is a Photo-Shopped edit of the difference between the two - and the yellow tint is a slight exaggeration but that is pretty much what I'm having to put up with.

I duuno, when is Apple going to make an official statement about the fan noise on Rev A 17" Imacs? mine is still buzzing away like an airplane in the other room. Apple is generally okay about replacing things (sometimes), but they don't make official statements about known problems and get touchy when you suggest there are a whole lot of other reports about the same problem on the internet.

I've owned Apples since my first Apple//e as a kid, and I broke my never by a first gen product rule with the last imac I bought and so far I've had the logic board replaced twice, the fans replaced once, and the power supply replaced. Last night the hard drive died and it goes off again to the Geniuses. (3 months left on that Applecare plan...)

I want a MBP something fierce, but I'm waiting until revision B this time ;)
