I would be sorely disappointed if this year's iPad Pro does not have reduced bezels and Face Id. People like Ming Chi Kuo I don't know how much to believe him ? But I am sensing it could be anytime between June-October !! Yawn... It's a long way to go....

Not just Minf Chi Kuo it’s Bloomberg as well with Mark Gurman who is very reliable as he has inside information. So I’d say it’s very likely to happen it’s now just a matter of when.

You think they are gonna stick to the 12 months release cycle which they have done with like 2/3 of iPad releases thus far, I think that was is rumored to be the biggest iPad redesign to date aswell as the inclusion of Face ID and other X-features makes a 15-20 month wait more likely which we have already seen multiple times in the iPad‘s past, essentially whenever a bigger redesign was coming up. But yeah, surely the biggest redesign to date will allow for a much earlier release than all the previous ones, that makes sense  That said I would love for you to be right, I‘m just not convinced.

But yeah our discussion has become a bit pointless, seeing as it has become a „I believe that, you believe that“ kind of thing. Piece out! ;)

OMG! I had this muscle spasm and accidentally linked this article!

So much to your "I will ignore your response", eh? :D

I saw that article aswell, similarly there were articles some months ago talking about the iPad Pro launching later this year around due to their Face ID/iPhone X-features inclusion, as an example, this one ("'a little more than a year' after the prior iPad Pro update"):

I wouldn't say that either of those guarantees anything yet, although it does make a June launch more likely. I'd be happy either way, not sure why you're so fixated on absolutely getting a June launch but you do you.

I think it's a win-win in both cases – a June launch would bring the cool new design and X-featureset to the iPad lineup much sooner and make those features more affordable sooner to those who don't want to afford a 1000+ € phone for it; a (post-)September launch would mean that Apple could potentially bring more features to the table and also ship the new iPad line with A12 chips right away and skip the A-X chips that they have been doing the last 2-3 years which means a more powerful machine.

I’m not fixated on anything. I just think that’s when the new iPad Pro will launch.

OMG, I just had... not a muscle spasm, but I still accidentally copied this article's URL and pasted it into this comment:

Sorry, I couldn't resist ;) I know it has been a while but just remembered our discussion from back then and found it funny that my prediction (namely, a new iPad Pro around October as opposed to June like last year) that you so quickly and mockingly dismissed as so obviously being unlikely turned out to be... pretty much on point, from all we currently know.

In retrospect, it's probably a good thing Apple waited till October instead of releasing it in June like you (and, to be fair, many others back in February/March) were leaning into, as these additional 4-5 months most definitely widened the gap between the 2018 and the 2017 iPad Pro, feature-wise. It's for certain that we at the very least wouldn't have gotten an A12X with a June release (which multiple sources say we will be getting) but an A11X at most, so these few additional months pretty much got us one entire year more of a CPU leap than we would have otherwise gotten. And who knows what other features might not have been included in a June launch either (USB-C for example? This one took me a bit by surprise, assuming it's true).

I agree that getting the A12X chip will be better then getting the A11X which would have occurred had Apple released it back when rumors at that time indicated. Not so much for the additional performance (it probably won't be a big performance difference), but due to improved efficiency/battery life.

My real hope is that Apple really focuses on improving the hardware experience of the iPad Pro. I have an iPad Pro, and I am NOT a fan of the type cover. They need to some up with something that has multiple angles for views much like the Surface Pro line.

Also, I hope they have a magnetic attachment for the Apple Pen and a significantly improved charging experience for the pen.

If they solve both of those issues, I'd say they have a much more competitive iPad that comes somewhat closer to being a PC replacement. To put it another way, the fact that Apple has taken longer to update the iPad Pro has increased my expectations. I hope I'm not disappointed!
