I put myself on the 16G 3G wait list last Tuesday at the Bethesda Row store and I have not heard from apple yet.

I always thought your try to sell as many products as you can when they are hot out of the box...I do not think that not having them in the stores creates any additional demand.

Have others been waiting a long time?

Maybe they forgot about you. Have you tried telephoning them? Maybe you could order from the online apple store instead.

Let me know if I can help in any other way.

Right, this is one reason why I still do not accept the conspiracy theory on artificial demand generation. It is possible, but I have not seen any real evidence for it.

"Are you nuts? We are making them as fast as we can."

16gb were purposely under-produced.

You're going to be waiting for a bit.

Ordering online or going to Best Buy might be better options.

Or you can fork over the cash for a 32gb.

(I'm in the UK but have got colleagues in the States right now)

Using a few different iTunes accounts I've had reserves put on a few different stores for a 64GB 3G.... one of them came true today, so hopefully my person will pick it up before end of business today!

If any of my other reserves come true I'll stick them up here for anyone else to grab!

My manager has been ALL over Houston with some clients from Dubai looking for an iPads. He was calling me so much asking where else they might sell them i quit answering my phone. The funny part is they are getting pissed at him because he can't bring them to a store that has them in stock.

I guess here is where the Apple conspiracy could come in handy: "Apple doesn't want you to have one so that you will buy more...ah...that's right."

I'm also in the DC area. Started calling around to Apple Stores in the area on Saturday (the day after the Friday-evening-release) and by 11:00 AM Saturday none of the MD or VA stores in the area had any 3G's in stock, in any memory size.

So I put my name on a waiting list at the Clarendon VA store for a 16 GB 3G. It's now over a week and I have yet to hear from them.

Tried The Woodlands? They have been ok on stock in comparison to Apple stores nearer to downtown and Katy.

When I bought my WiFi only last month I was able to walk in and out of the store in 10 minutes with it.

Last Thursday I decided to get a second unit and went to the Apple Store when I asked for a 64GB + WiFi the genius told me that there was a reservation list and that once you were on it you would get a call within 2 to 4 days and would have 24 hours from that time to pick it up.

Needless to say I declined and ordered from the online store that evening. Says that I will have it between the 14th and the 20th.

I think that I can deal with the WiFi only until then.

Is there a reason that you haven't just ordered it from Apple's website? I am asking seriously, not trying to be snarky. If you had ordered it last Tuesday, you would probably have it by now, or at least within the next few days.

Yes, but don't you think ordering it and knowing that it will be coming is better than hanging out, hoping that it will show up at a local store?

Guess I as lucky on release Friday to score a 64GB 3G model at 6:15PM with no wait at the the Tysons Apple Store :D

Not necessarily. Mine went into "Prepared for shipment" (read: haha you can't cancel now!) just hours before the local university called me telling me that I was next on the waiting list and they had one ready for me to pickup. That was last Wednesday. I'm still waiting for mine (currently in Alaska, should be here in a day or two) :(
