A lot of MBA users either are new Mac users/switchers or using the MBA as a secondary Mac. Just want to know which one you are.

I would think that a significant portion aren't coming from anywhere. they are simply getting an additional computer for light tasks and travel.

Switching from Sony Vaio TX650P running WinXP/Ubuntu. The extra two inches of screen real estate are great, and the weight is the same. Also, the 1.8 C2D blows the socks off the 1.2 P4M... Guess it is somewhat expected when upgrading from a 3 year old comp. ;)

So far I'm really liking OS X. Xcode is probably the best feature so far! :D

Came from Sony UX390/490, TZ180/TZ21, G11.

Tried using the Air as my sole ultraportable since I got it.

And now, back to a combo of the Sony UX490N and TZ32 in the main, although I'm refreshing other TZ's to same or TZ2500 spec, and have replaced my Dell M1330's with Sony SZ71's and also have an X300 (which, like the Air but to a lesser extent, I'm not 'getting' in comparison to the TZ as an all-day portable tool). All in all, the UX/TZ combo (actually, even just the TZ) is much more useful and functional than the Air.

Although I still venture out with it occasionally, I tend to use the Air now for keynotes, meetings, etc where the Air might be a better thing to have image-wise than the Sony's.

Bought mine as an addition to my Mac Pro, but since I've got it I've found myself using the Mac Pro less and less, to the extent the Air has become my main computer, and the Mac Pro has been relegated to a media server function

Just adding a MBA to the arsenal of various other Macs. Wouldn't use it as a sole machine, but the thin and light form factor with a large keyboard and screen (relative to the Sony T series) should make it ideal for travelling and remote working in my line of business.

Loved my T2XP... but at the end of the day, it was just too small to use comfortably for long periods.

My first Mac

The Air is my first Mac - I used to have XP Pro Vaio PCs now I've moved to Mac as the Air is better than any Vaio currently on the market. I was a big fan of Vaio (I purchased about 5 in 5 years) - Vista was the main killer, that and XP is getting too old, plus the processor speeds in the Vaio range are not so good.

MBA replaced my G4 PB (1.67/128mb VRAM). It was not meant to be a primary machine, but I have not sat down at my desktop since I moved iTunes from it to the Air.

I'm thinking about getting an MBA to be my primary computer. Currently I use an iMac and it would definitely require some trimming down. I'd probably still use the iMac for iPhoto, maintaining my primary iTunes library, and other disk-space-intensive tasks, but I'd use the MBA for most of my work (writing, creating graphics for my blog, managing websites, taking care of personal finances). I'd attach my 20-inch ACD that currently is attached to my iMac. The more I think about this concept, the more I like it.

I switched from a Toshiba and two other PCs running XP Pro. I still rely on the laptop for astrophotography software that isn't Mac compatible but I am happy, happy, happy for the change. :D

24" iMac Extreme is "second" MAC

I work in the field mostly so the new MB Air IS my primary MAC.

The MB Air (1.6GGHz, 80HD) replaced a Mac Book Pro (17", C2D 2.66GHz, 3GB RAM).

Now my "secondary" MAC for when I'm at my desk is a 24" iMAC Extreme with 4GB RAM.

I am using my Macbook Air as my main computer. It replaced my PowerBook G4.

The MBA undervolted to 800Mhz is more than enough because I offload all the heavy processing onto a pair of Xserves.

MBA is a second computer to my 20' iMac. Got it for note-taking in class and traveling. I still use the imac whenever i'm at home and its the main storage for my music and such. I try to keep the MBA free of anything i dont need on me when i travel.

Migrated from a 15" C2D MBP to a MBA (1.6/80), thinking I'd also pickup up a 20" iMac or a mini + HDTV after the next refresh.

However, after a few weeks of having used the MBA as my only Mac, I've run into nothing that made me wish I still had my MBP (or a faster machine).

I'm a pretty lightweight user, though. 99% of what I do is Mail.app, FireFox, iTunes, Safari, and Transmission (with some occasional Aperture). The MBA has handled them all very well.
