They issued a press release over two weeks ago about the new TomTom update for retina display but it still is not in the store. Does anyone know if it has been rejected or delayed?

I'm gonna take a lucky guess and also assume that they submitted the app to the App Store when the announcement was made. If that's the case then we should see the app some time this week in the App Store.

The app could also be in the testing stage and they also could have made the announcement and not have submitted it. So really we couldn't say when for sure until it either appears in the App Store or TomTom makes any other announcements.

Press release was on the 2nd of September and it said

"Availability and price The TomTom App for iPhone is available for purchase via the App Store. Continental and regional versions of the TomTom App are available today for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPod touch users at www.tomtom.com/tomtom-app."

I get what you are saying but I think they are misleading and should issue the press release nearer to the launch date.

I hear you. But with the way the App Store works, I don't think they know the exact launch date, just the submitted date. In any case you misunderstood the press announcement (it's not phrased clearly). The first sentence says that 1.5 is coming soon and the bit at the end is referring to the existing 1.4 version. The way I read it, I do not know if 1.5 has even been submitted. New users looking to buy TomTom can follow that link a buy the app today. They just can't download 1.5 yet. ;)

People, relax. The app has 1.3+ GB or data. We don't know how long it takes for an app of such size to get all the images updated. Other than sounds, pics probably makes the bulk of that data.

Besides, TomTom wasn't the first one to provide a turn-by-turn app for a reason. They take their time to make sure it's done right. Brand reputation is on the line if they don't, so again, relax. It'll be here at the right time.

In addition, it's not like the app just suddenly stopped working. Does it still give you directions without the update? Yes.

Let's just wait until they get it right. I'm sure it'll be worth it.

I refuse to drive to new places until the update comes! JK.... the current one works fine. I think the video got people excited for the new bells and whistles to play with.

I haven't seen the video! Is it on YouTube? Got a link for it?
