Come on 1.5.1!!!!! Or even better, 1.6!!!

I want TomTom 2.0 now! And that version better have a way to calculate my car's MPGs, and tell me if I'll make it to the next gas station. Oh, and also tell me gas prices too.

Btw, I know this is the Internet, so in case you can't tell, I'm being sarcastic. But coming to think of it, I'm gonna let TomTom know of my idea. :)

TomTom 1.5 is available in the App Store today.

Early reports are that the traffic bug is fixed.

1.5 is out now!
It's a fair improvement over 1.4. The spoken directions are more clear vocally and contextually. Pronunciation of street names are much more clear and the tempo of what is said is more natural. The RD support is nice, but once mounted on the dash it hardly makes a difference.
Photo navigation is cool, and functionally works well. It's quick and accurate. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find any way to intelligently sort the photos. It ignores albums and just lists everything in chronological order. For me, this is nearly unusable since I have almost a thousand tagged photos on my phone. 1.5.1 needs to implement album support. I'd love to be able to create a "Contacts" album with pics of friends and places.

The traffic bug is that it doesn't list incidents on your route right?

Yeah - the traffic works, but when you tap the button on the map view it says it can't update and it doesn't tell you how far away you are from the next incident. I'm still downloading, so I'm not sure if this is fixed yet, but from what I've read, it is.

I just played with it and it does list the incidents on route! It says how far away the delay is, where it is and how long it is. I am pumped!

Awesome! By far my biggest pet peeve. If you're bored, check and see if you enable one of the computer voices and turn off the option to speak road numbers, if those settings stick.

In 1.4, if you turned off the option to speak road numbers and created a route, it worked fine, but the next route you created, or the next time you started TomTom, speak road numbers would be turned back on.

Better yet... 2.0 could plug into your car and drive you to your destination. :)

...and still it hasn't arrived...zzzzzz:confused:

That sucks.

But to me, other than the "Navigate to Photo" feature, there's really not much else to this update. I compared 1.4 and 1.5 with two iPhone 4s, and the graphics with Retina Display support are improved on the 1.5 update, but the differences are not highly noticable when you have the phone at a couple of feet distance from you. I don't know, maybe that's just me though.

I disagree, it looks amazing now and is much faster and more accurate with the GPS. It is how the app should have been at launch (except there was no iPHone 4 then) lol

"Navigate to Photo" is probably the least important upgrade to the app. It's interesting, but poorly implemented since there is no way to organize the photos.
That said, major upgrades don't need to be "highly noticable". The underlining app seems to have been significantly upgraded. The UI is faster, the GPS is more accurate, routes generate faster, speech is more clear, notification are better timed and the RD display is pushing 4x the pixels. I'm very happy with the update simply because it improves the most important functions of the app.

For iPhone TomTom U.S. & Canada version: does the in-app purchase of 12-month traffic cover Canada???

I don't see an in-app traffic purchase for Canada & Alaska version.

If traffic coverage is in Canada, could someone please provide some screen shots?

Thank you!

Update: No traffic coverage for Canada at this time.

Now wait. More than a year after release, this app still doesn't support multi-point routes?

Also, how does it handle incoming calls? Navigon's implementation is terrible- instead of you looking at the maps (with muted directions) and hearing the caller, you are taken to the phone app and you and the caller hear the spoken directions. Is tomtom's the same?

It supports a "via" point between you and your destination. Only a small percentage of people you use more then one waypoint. I assume you're one ;)
As for incoming call handling, it's similar to Navigon. When you answer the call it asks if you would like to have background directions or not. The iOS prevents the app from automatically switching back to the nav screen after answering your call, but you can do it manually.
