Where would you use an iPad?

I would use it at home where I would normally use my iMac. This will certainly help my electric bill since I could probably go several weeks with JUST using my iPad. Not having to turn on my iMac, external hard drives (3), external USB hubs, external speakers, as well as my externally powered wireless mouse.
I would also be using it for/at work, keeping track of meetings and meeting notes. I have papers all over my storage space in our office and it would be nice just to have them digitally, bonus being able to link them to calender reminders so I can be more productive. It would also be great to use out front on the lawn chair - laptops are just hard to manage in that area and they don't last very long power wise.

Nowhere. I've got a touch, an netbook, a notebook, a desktop PC. I don't need no stinkin' maxi...er...iPad.
I would use it around the house. If I'm doing development, yeah I'll use my laptop, but if I'm just watching movies and surfing the web, why wouldn't I use one? Currently it's not unusual for me to sit in bed using my iPhone and apps for internet access for an hour or so.
I would also use it in my car. I'd like to mount it on the console and hook it up via Dock Connector as my removable in-car computer for navigation, entertainment, etc.
I'm not in any rush to buy one, but if I felt like I wanted one, yeah, it wouldn't be collecting any variety of dust.

i know this keeps coming up, but how would you watch movies? most video content on the web is flash based.
On the train. This thing will kill my iPhone for watching movies and surfing the web during my regular hour+ commutes.
However I'm concerned it won't be as good as my kindle for eReading, though. eInk does a good job at imitating paper, better than the LCD+IPS on the iPad will probably do.

well i can see myself using the iPad at home, for example having breakfast and checking emails etc. i used to do this on my iPhone, but it's a bit slow and tricky - can't hold it at a comfortable distance while eating.
iPad means there's basically no reason i need to be shuffled away in my room unless i am actually doing some Photoshop work or cranking the 'tunes.
also out and about, it could be very useful.
i can see it being useful for presenting photo/artwork/design proofs to clients - meet with them and hand them your iPad with photos loaded up and let them flick through and have a look - i think that would make a heck of a lot better impression than just opening up a laptop on the table!

I'm a sports fanatic and if I were to buy an Ipad it would be right in front of my TV 24/7. That MLB ap looked incredible. However, it didn't look good enough to pay $499. Although my Blackberry and my girlfriends Iphone aren't as good as an Ipad, they aren't $499 worse.
I see me using it in a number of places -- on the train, while waiting in line, at night in bed, while I'm watching TV.
Basically any place a laptop would be intrusive, and my iPhone would be too small.

* Traveling - Train, Airplane, Car when I am not driving!
* On the factory floor monitoring production processes. On the beach monitoring same!
* Stock and Inventory processes.
* Checking daily/weekly/monthly sales figures/reports.
* Monitoring bank accounts/cash flows.
* Internet
* No more newspapers on trains!
* Emails. iPhone is ok for this but I hope for better typing on this thing.
* Books when I have some downtime depending on how that screen works out.
* Music
* Films on the go... especially when flights are delayed!
* Chatting with the kids before bed... crying shame about the omission of a camera
* Too many more things to mention...
Some things disappointed me at first, but I will have to get used to them. This thing has so many more benefits than negatives for me. Also, this is generation 1... Can't wait to see where this technology takes us over the next three years or so. Especially as apps will appear that were not possible on the iPhone. As someone said earlier, the apps really will make this thing...

Use to show photos to clients
I'm a Wedding photographer. The iPad will fit in nicely when I'm seeing clients. I am very happy to carry my iPhone, Macbook Pro and an iPad. The iPhone and Macbook are for me to use during the meetings, but the iPad will be used to show clients my photos, portfolio and to take notes on.
Not everyone will have an iPad. It offers a unique and engaging interface to demonstrate and display my photos to current and new Wedding couples.

If I had any intention of buying one (which I don't) I would probably only need to use it at home or if I for some reason go on a long flight where I can't use my 17" MacBook Pro (which also has 7 hours of battery life at least).
My iMac is in the 2nd bedroom/office so I dont spend too much time in there and when I do on the mac I tend to get bored after an hour or so, So my use will be in the main bedroom/lounge/travelling (plane/train) staying in hotels
I can see using this at home for basic surfing, most of the sites I go to *cough* macrumors *cough* doesn't use flash, so I'm ok w/o flash support.

Perhaps even for work as a replacement for notebooks, so I can take notes in my meeting, At this point I'm encroaching into the area where laptops maybe more useful for me. This is where I think the iPad fails in because it doesn't offer the same level of power and flexibility of a laptop.
While I understand the need to make it "in between" a laptop and an iPhone, they could have added a bit more features, like multi-tasking or such to make it even more useful, but I digress.

I'm going to get one for each floor in my house (3.5) and get rid of my netbook, one of my MBPs, and all but one of my Pronto remotes.
The iPad will be a much more elegant, accessible solution for what I use those for, mainly Internet access and to control my Mac Mini, which I use as whole house jukebox server. With customizable remote control apps coming out I'll even be able to control my entire whole house A/V from it, something that until now would cost $2,000 per unit.
The iPad will be the ultimate Coffee -- and breakfast -- Table appliance.
I'll also take it with me on trips and who know where else. It has such huge potential.
