I can see how it could be confusing to some customers. We have been in September with the message always being October. Some may expect it too be available literally „starting“ in October cuz reading October when it is already October is a little odd. They should update it to like „later this month“ or even just „coming this month“
You understand that "October" is 31 days long and we are just a matter of hours into the first day, right? Apple never said that it would be available on October 1st, just during this month.
It is stated "available in October"...not "sometime in October." It is now officially October. Where's the beef?

They know how super eager people are for these new products. They tease with their big uber-produced events as the greatest things ever invented. They want us to salivate until purchase day. Apple leaves NOTHING to chance. They know exactly to the minute when items will be available to purchase months or weeks in advance, even in this pandemic. They give us this vagueness for a reason. Perhaps so we will keep on visiting the site often and purchase something else in the meantime.
Thanks for the insight Dr. Phil.Any relationship is working both ways. If one like to cloud themselves in secrecy it takes a second person to feel excited about it. You and only you decide every day how you’re gonna feel.

I think the Apple jets stuffed full of these things from China are stuck in the jet stream going in circles for the past week. Or they're lost in the smoke from the unfortunate wildfires. I want my green ipad Air. And I want it NOW!Apple pre-orders all the time, so it is odd that this unremarkable product is the one they would have a vague release date on. So you have to wonder what the holdup is. Production? Marketing? Timing? A14? 14.2? Or just another instance of iPhone priority and iPad neglect.
Agree totally. I think it makes better business sense to strike while the iron's hot, so to speak. People will want to loosen their purse strings when they're all hot and bothered by an exciting, newly-redesigned product. Some may have lost their enthusiasm by now. But of course Apple had to separate this new design announcement from the big reveal coming in a few weeks. By then I'll have re-prioritized my Apple card installments for the phone instead of splitting it with a new ipad AND a phone.Let me preface this by saying that I absolute HATE when people say "Steve Jobs would..." and I never thought I would say it myself, but I believe that Jobs had a philosophy that you don't show people a product and get them excited for it, and then not let them be able to buy it right away. He did break that rule a few times, like with the very first iPhone which was shown long before it was finished, but for that most part, that's why his presentations usually ended with the words, "and it's available for order today!" with the product usually shipping by the end of the week.
They’re waiting for the free AirPods promo to end.I have a feeling the date will be available before the announcement for the new iPhone. Why not get as many iPad Air pre-sales in as possible before the focus and excitement shifts to the new iPhone?

It is odd that they advertise this and let you configure but not preorder. Especially considering that the biggest impulse-buy selling point here is that its a new color. Delaying preorders now puts it in direct competition with the upcoming barrage of October impulse buys (iPhone 12, new AppleTV, AirPod Studio, new HomePod etc).
Anyway, I just want to see the reviewers get permission to tell us about it. I’m still considering it but at this point I’m fine with waiting for Black Friday deals.

They've already specified that the Airpod promo doesn't apply to the Air 4.
