CNN and CNBC.

What good does it to have alerts from a new service who fails to report all of the news fairly.

----------

None. Fox News and CBS News breaking emails. Within a few minutes of any major breaking story.

^^^This. ^^^

Go to foxnews.com and join the alerts. Within minutes of anything big happening, you get an alert pushed to your device either via email of their app.

The also have great financial new alerts, too.

So now that Breaking News has pulled the plug on Jan 1, 2017, what are the top 3 (FREE) breaking news apps?

I just looked at Fox News however it appears to be a subscription. I do NOT want a subscription as I already get a daily newspaper that I pay for.

I'd prefer not to pay a one time fee either but if it's not too steep, I'd consider it if it's a highly rated app.

Thanks.

I do it the free way. Subscribe to some breaking news twitter feeds and then setup sms alerts on twitter's website for those accounts. Works great and there's no extra crappy apps on my phone.

You can have Twitter give alerts for those (assuming you use the Twitter app).
